Fedaykin Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 OK guys, What's the best bar size for a 13m Venom. I believe it's 50cm but if go for a 60cm (one for sale on the forum) what do I sacrifice? I'll be using it inland in 8 - 18mph. I'm quite a small build. 62Kg ringing wet. Does this make any difference? Thanks. Quote
djstrauss281 Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 i had 60cm zero 4 bar on mine and it is great. turning speed is brilliant with 60cm, imo get 60cm. Quote
ste05 Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Go for the 60 it will turn faster so easyer to redirect fast Quote
marman Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 eeekk i over redirect on the 50cm. these kites are more than fast enough on the 50 Quote
Skyhooked Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 60cm much better even use the 60cm on the 10m too gets the best out of the kite Quote
Tyler Durden Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 If you speak to Pete Lynn (Peter Lynns son) he'll tell you he uses a 50cm bar on the whole range even the 19m! I think I'll be selling my 60cm as soon as my V13 comes rtf with a 50cm bar, but will wait and see. Quote
Tyler Durden Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 even use the 60cm on the 10m too  You must be mad! or doing something very wrong;) Quote
Foggoflyer Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Sorry i'm not really that up to speed on control bars. So would somebody mind explaining why plus or minus 10cm makes that much differance. Quote
Tyler Durden Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 If you are used to flying on handles the difference in bar length is the same as changing the amount you can pull either handle back. 10cm makes quite a lot of difference in the turning speed of your kite. Quote
Bobby Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Sorry i'm not really that up to speed on control bars. So would somebody mind explaining why plus or minus 10cm makes that much differance. IMHO, it don't. Used my Venoms 10, 13 and 16 on all lengths of bar - 50, 55 and 60 - really is not that much differance. Quote
keyrb101 Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 if your a beginner use a smaller bar but if u know your kites then get the 60 as you just hold further to the middle of the bar for less input so u wont oversteer. Quote
Skyhooked Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005  You must be mad! or doing something very wrong;) i'm always doing something very wrong i think that even though the 10m is quick to TURN on the 60cm bar, the kites movement is not sped up at all, and that is the fundamental issue if we were talking about somehow speeding up the travel of the kite, sure, why bother, but turning speed its just not a problem to speed it up a bit there are many many LEIs that turn and fly so much quicker than the 10m venom when you point the venom towards the ground, you have plenty of time to react before it hits the deck, unlike some LEIs with similar wind range that seem to dive towartds the ground, resulting in a smack the venom just doesnt fly fast enough through the air to create a problem when used on the 60cm bar - as i have found. have used the 6m phantom on the 60cm bar, bit twitchy but useable still many beginners learn to fly with a kite that will probably turn quicker than the venom 10m - bullet 2.5m on handles for example. venoms usually (we hope) arent given to raw first time kite fliers, but usually to people who have a solid grounding in fixed power kites which in their smaller sizes, when flown on handles, are proper angry wasps but back to the thread topic - get a 60cm bar for your 13m Quote
