Elliot Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 i am thinking of making a custom ply landboard with a grab handle built into it whilst it is being made. so the grab handle is incorparated into one of the plys. what do you recon. as i think that a screw on grab handle would take away the strength of the board.what else should i incorparate into the board. and should i go conventional on the shape or go mad. what should i do? buggy nut Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 yea mad but still useable. would it effect the pop of the board tho? Quote
mike c Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Go mad, you chould look to 80s skate decks for some inspiration. Some of the old designs were sweet - try a non-smooth edge like the old psycho stick or something (have one on my wall) http://www.streetboardz.com/noname37.html As for grab handle not sure, but you will presumably be drilling for bindings anyway. petay_pan Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 wouldn't say you were effecting the strength too greatly drilling into it, i would imagine a built in handle would pose more a problem in the form of resistance to flex in teh board. id also say go for something i little personal in the design c what kind of shape you can get using least amount of material (weight) but maximising strength and useablity as much as you can.
