ged1625 Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 please give me some advice on what kite i should go for. just sold blade3 4.0 meter and am thinking about a 4.9 blade3 or 9.5 sabre. am new to landboarding so like the idea of depowerable kite. i use a silver reef board. am i running before i can walk.?? cant afford to have more than 1 kite so would sabre be best option or just stick with a blade. SavUK Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 I agree with the bateman on this one as the sabre will give you a much bigger wind range. The sabre will be more expensive to buy than the blade plus to get the most out of it you will also need a harness which will add more expense. There are a few other de-powerable foils available (access/frenzy), so it may be worth you trying some others before you part with your cash. Good luck, Sav. Quote
h4kiteboarding Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 BLADE3 ALL THE WAY!!!!! get a 6.6 or 4.9 Quote
SavUK Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 BLADE3 ALL THE WAY!!!!! get a 6.6 or 4.9 Are you sure?, after all this guy is learning. IMHO - You can spend less time worrying where the kite is in the sky with depowerables which means you and can concentrate better on your boarding skills. Quote
Docgreen Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 75% of kite sports buggying boarding and such is kite skills...i have loads of m8's trying to board but there input time on there kite skills is mininmule...i'd say learn to fly a kite without looking then jump on the board ..and yes blades all the way mmmmmmmmmmmm goto love em ... Charlie W Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Only way to know is try both. I had a 4m blade then got a 9.5 Sabre and have now gone back to blades. Its all about personal preference, both are great kites though the sabre does cover a wider wind range obviously. PS 9.5 sabre for sale 400 notes + post if you are interested Quote

thailand45 Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 get a 4.9 brother you cant go wrong its a mid range kite a 9.5 to big Quote
daveywavey Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 get a 4.9 brother you cant go wrong its a mid range kite a 9.5 to big A 9.5 sabre is a mid-range kite. A lot of people who fly ram air depowers will only have a 9.5/10 which will cover most winds, and is in fact equivalent to somewhere between a 4.9 and 6.6 Blade. Then again, id say try the arcs Quote
Dibz Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 if you're wanting a kite for a good range of wind, the 9.5 sabre would be the choice over a blade... good safety systems built in, nice smooth power delivery so you can spend less time worrying about the kite and more time flying/boarding etc it is probably fair to say the 9.5 sabre would cover the range of the 4m blade up to around the 6.6m (although low wind performance of the sabre is probably better than the 6.6 blade), but it won't have that awesome bite of the blade, it is much smoother. songalolo1 Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 I have to agree with Davey, if you thinking of going depowerable give the ARC's a try, not saying they are better than Sabre, but definitely worth a try... Quote
JellyFish Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Blades are more in your face power as for the sabre the power is more controlled. but the blade is so much fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
