sn0rkle Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 There have been a lot of really good kiteboard vidoes about recently that i have really enjoyed watching. But... I cant help but feel a little cheated that none of them show what the rider is doing with the kite. Personaly i would find it very helpfull if at least during a few tricks i could see how the riders are setting themselvs up and redirecting during their jumps. Tbh this is prolly cause im having trouble keeping in control of any jumps over a few feet, and i could do with some help. Cmon guys, teach us how! Quote
mkratty Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 if you look at some of the kitesurfing video's it shows the redirecting of the kite better .its all the same priciples just give your lead hand a really good pull . Quote
Tom183 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 IMO, most vids have too much close-up on the rider and not enough wide shots. Only seen it in a couple vids, but it's pretty cool seeing 2 (or more) riders and their kites at the same time, especially if they jump or something. Quote
SoggyUK Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 More wide angles would be good though.... But it is very easy to redirect the kite, even easier than redirecting the board! You don't even have to look at the kite, you just give a good hard pull with redirection hand, and look at the board for landing. Quote
kiting mad Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 you cant reliy on videos to teach you just get out there and practise evrybody has there own style so the person in the vid will probs be doing it differant to you anyway ! Quote
Kite-Ski Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 yer good point kiting mad, you need to get out there and practise, and maybe have someone helping you out whilst you try differenent things, i find when i teach windsurfing, it is better to run through something with someone and make t.h.e.m do it, rather than watch clips or try to explain, this also helps but the hands on approach seems to be the way people pick things up. Pablo Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 There is lots of good kitesurfing instructional DVD's, they'll clearly go over some kite safety, launching and flying all the way up to getting going and some even cover a variety of tricks and jumping in general. The Boost II is a good one. Not exactly Landboarding, but the kiteflying part is really similar. You might even be able to find an instructional DVD for Landboarding. Quote
marman Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 would be easy if had two camera men or if the person did the trick twice, also if you were really faer away. if not you could split screen, one kite one boarder Quote
Woody1599968629 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Check out the FW1 vid on KiteATB as they've got a section off the big ramp looking up so you can see what's going on with the kite Quote

I agree but we need something to do while we're locked away in the office Quote
sn0rkle Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 if not you could split screen, one kite one boarder I like that idea it could work really well. I wonder if you could sooper impose the kite so it looked like it was flying on 2m lines? Quote
