seymore Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Have had a meeting with the commons advisory commitee regarding the use of the commons for buggying and boarding, although it was a closed meeting they still let me in:eek: . The news is not good, we can,t buggy or board on them and prosecutions may take place if no one repects the ban due to the by laws. I asked for other possible venues to be made available to us and on this score the commitee are going to look into alternative areas with in the city where we can enjoy our sport. I am now in touch with the right people and want to keep this side of them for the good of all Kiters, with this in mind can we all keep to the ban on buggying and boarding and if we see anyone doing it on the commons could we all pass this news onto others.(if we don,t we could lose the static flying as well). Another thing that would help our cause would be to set up a Club for the area, would you all be willing to do this?, your views would be welcomed. Will let you all now whats happening as and when I hear. Quote
fly boy benny Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 is that south and west common then or just west cos ive been on south common with me kites a few times etc etc and been there for downhill hope thats not included aswell! Quote
seymore Posted August 3, 2005 Author Report Posted August 3, 2005 The problem mainly applies to the west common, due to all the horses and football ect. So if we can keep the West clear of traction for the time being it will help towards other sites becoming available. Quote
fly boy benny Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 you not workin today then? wer goin up south common at bout 3 then off to branston for a session at about 5 ish maybe a bit later Quote

seymore Posted August 4, 2005 Author Report Posted August 4, 2005 Lincoln initially, The University are interested in a club being formed, would give us some credence and maybe more space to fly. riseholme ect they have plenty of land. Quote
big bob Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 I'd be interested in taking part in a Lincoln-based club, albeit remotley. I get to Lincoln every other month to see me folks. As for the west common, the horses are good cos they can pull you if there's no wind! Also not a good place cos of all the horsey droppings. Might look interesting ploughing through a few of those thing... Quote

daft mick Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 You ok there Ben? I'm from Ruskington. I sometimes fly at the local playing field. I used to go to Mabo a fair bit, but......... To be honest, I haven't been out as much this year due to other commitments. I'm doing a degree in computer sciences and trying to work and pay the mortgage as well. All good fun though. Had a blast yesterday. Catch you later Mick Quote
tiny_clanger Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Hi, jsut thought I'd chip inm, just noticed this. I'm not a lincolnshire flier (dont know where lincolnshire is :blush) but I have got experience working with unis for buggy access, and dealing with some of their unique bureaucracy and loopholes. If i can be of any help, just ask Quote
seymore Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 Thanks Tiny:) Any help would be great,if you have had the expierience:eek: like wading thru sticky toffee pudding. the S.U are ok bout things at mo just some H+S issues to sort out. Quote
tiny_clanger Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 yeah, i know what SU's can be like. They worry about the small stuff but then get all ridiculous about the big stuff -eg, watersports budget meeting, item on budget "fire exinguisher for powerboat" - su response "it's a boat, why does it need a fire extinguisher?" Umm - cos it's powered by PETROL maybe! lol anyway I have risk assesments and I could posisbly arrange for someone from my uni (director of sport) to provide some sort of contact if they want ideas for how it is organised at other unis. PM me with any specifics I can help you with- I've been working with SU's for 6 yrs now, i know all the loopholes! Quote
seymore Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 Trying to get a demo day together for freshers fayre, but the SU want paying if we are not a charity, also H+S issues using uni Land(big open area with nothing over hanging, no obscructions and other students have flown there unofficially) .....Any loop holes there? we are trying to get them involved in a sport which provides days out,fun and socialising (there is not much else going on in Lincoln-explains why you don't know where it is!)
