Frakke1599968664 Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 I've been to Trysil this year in March Tom Rune Jarandsen was teaching me - top man ... email "Tom Rune Jarandsen" he should be able to advise you but I couldn't snowboard when I got there - he showed me how to do that then hooked me up to a 10m NAISH elemental after about half a day awesome on snow - however he prefers to teach just the kites so it's a good idea to be able to board rather than turn up[ and expect to learn like i did.... lewiss Posted July 29, 2005 Author Report Posted July 29, 2005 hey guys, could you give some kite schools in geilo, and also could you give site that is in english? thanks, scoops Quote
robinsonpr Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 Anyone know if it's possible to kite anywhere in Geilo itself? I've seen Hardangarvidda but I won't have a car to get there. Quote
5N1TCH Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Yes, take the ski lift to Havdalshovda, it's a very long T-bar. There's a huge open area, a few rocks and heather depending on the snow cover, but overall a good place to kite. http://www.geiloskisenter.no/Global/Images/Skisenter/Loypekart/Loypekart%20201516.jpg Quote
5N1TCH Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) Hardangervidda is a bit more difficult to get to but well worth the effort, best option is to join a group trip, I've been twice with these guys: Versus Snowkitetrip Noorwegen 2016? Boek Nu | €1399,- I'd have gone this year if my shoulder hadn't been playing up. Check out the videos on the Versus website. You need to snowkite Norway at least once before you die When are you thinking of going? I went in January/early February 2010/2011, but it's not a good time to go, it's fucking cold, dark and the wind is shit or non-existent. Best go Late Feb/March or onwards, had wind almost every day the past two trips in 2013/14. Edited November 8, 2015 by 5N1TCH Quote
robinsonpr Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Thanks 5n1tch, appreciate the reply! I'm not holding much hope, I'm going to Geilo this year just before Christmas. Will have my wife and kids in tow, it's not an all out snowkite trip. Mid December, so not much daylight, and probably not that much snow. Let alone wind. That Havdalshovda looks promising if I do get lucky. Hardangervidda looks the nuts. Be nice to do that one day!!! Quote
