i saw a postonvliegler forum about balancing BF wheels little while ago basicly they guy got a load of small lead weights then clamped the axle wit the wheel on to a table ensuring it was flat and such and bearings nice and free running. then gently spin the wheel and mark the lowest point when it stops then spin it fewmore times assuming the lowest point is consistent then put some weight on the rim using form aryldite or simmilar keep repeating the process untill the wheel stops at a random place every time :)

ive been thinking about doing it as my wheels seam to ocilate when going really fast and can bea bit unearving

I may give it a go but did think about letting a tyre place do it for me.

My kenda's, although rigid and heavy, did not wobble until I as getting to 50. My front b/f light behaves like this around the 30 mark. There is hardly a day that I go out that I dont do that speed so I always get wobble now and it makes my biatch tits jiggle a little  :o

Do you think it would make much difference? are we talking 2mph when you are doing 35mph + or what?

My wheels are badly balanced to the point that if i hold my axle and spin the wheel I cant keep the axle still! Is this that big a deal?

How much are we talking to get this done? just roughly. How much is balancing normal car wheels for an idea?

Cheers

It save save some lost energy and turn it into speed. How much difference I dont know, maybe negligible but I would like it done purely for comfort factor.

The difference betwenn 1st and 15th in the supercup is about 3 mph.

It may not matter much to a recreational buggyer but to racers and speed merchants like Andy it's a lot.:)

As dave says - most Motorbike shops can and will tackle it.

If you have an independant Tyre Garage near you (Not Kwik Fit etc) They may well have one of the old Spirit bubble type balancers which should be good up to about 50mph.

Cant see me needing it just yet ;)

50!!!

Jesus mate!! My next multiple of 10 to reach is 70!! Doubt if I will get there any time soon or if I do, not in comfort but high 40's though to high 50's I would like to cruise like a Bently!!

Not a lada on rubber bushes and solid tyres :D

Exactly Mark.

Its a touch unerving being incredibly powered up, on the edge of your potential, one mistake with the kite and you are doing human cannon ball inpression and having your buggy shake and wobble

Yes exactly Andy but My point was a Static Balance (Which would accomodate the 20 mm hole in your wheel - will only be really only any good UP to 50 mph - after that - you really should be Dynamically balancing.

That said - one that is statically balanced WILL be better than one not balanced at all :D

Yup ;)

Static is where the wheels stay still - and basically balances on a spirit level to make the Wheel "Balance" -Easier to see than describe.

Dynamic Balance is where the wheel is actually spun (These days using expensive machinery to do it) WHich enables the wheel to spin at the speed it would ON the vehicle. Hence a more accurate reading.

Just take em to a Motorbike place - They will do it for you !

Andy - these guys always seem to know their stuff down this way as they do a lot of race spec cars and bikes

Certainly be my first call

About 1 mile from my house and very very god prices indeed. Would have been my first port of call.

All the garages BMW, Merc, Honda, Audi take cars their or did..as they are the only ones in the local area who have laser tracking/balance stuff.

Cheers

hey guys you could go out and ask a garage to balance your wheels but they might not be able too.

when was the last time you took the tires off i know i do buggy jumping but the last time i did there was laods of sand inside them this would make it impossible

just a thought:D
