monkeyinshower Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 I know there have been some Tarifa threads before so sorry If i'm covering old ground. But I am headed out there in mid September for a week and just thought i'd get some advice from those who know. Firstly, what sort of area is best to stay? I have seen one nice looking place near Tarifa town (close to jungle beach) We are hiring a car and driving from Malaga, so I guess it's not too much hassle driving to best beach area every day? and probably better than walking to the beach and having to drive to the bars!? Which brings me onto, where is the best beach area that allows hire of Kitesurf and Windsurf stuff? I have looked at the Mistral Centre, are these guys good for hiring gear? Are there other cheaper/better ones? Any other advice anyone can think of is gratefully accepted. Thanks guys - James Quote
englisho Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Said it before and I'll say it again.. the 'vaca loca' bar in the old part of tarifa town.. great food, great beer.. and if you could persuade the georgeous English barmaid there to accept my hand in marriage I will be eternally grateful. Muchas gracias. Quote
jonnybfive Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 I went out there last September and it is an awesome place. I'd defo recommend staying in Tarifa and driving to the beaches as there ain't a great deal outside of Tarifa in terms of bars and restaurants. We rented a villa right in the town centre between 5 of us. Worked out quite cheap but there are loads of places to stay. If you just want a bed to sleep in then you'll find something cheap. We kitesurfed at a beach called Spin Out everyday. You can hire gear from there which was all okay and they only charge by the hour and will keep a tab for you for the time you are spending in Tarifa and then pay at the end. Just up (nearer to Tarifa) is another beach called Valdequeros (or something like that) which is where a lot of kiters go out from and is where the school is. If you end up downwind (in an easterly) you will only end up at the end of Spin Out, which is like a small bay so no probs. You'll love it out there. Super friendly people and loadsa wind and sun Hope this helps Quote
monkeyinshower Posted June 23, 2005 Author Report Posted June 23, 2005 Cheers for the replies so far. Very helpful stuff. - Think I will go ahead with the apartment in town idea, and drive to the beaches. Can't wait, it's gonna be awesome, can't believe that I'm excited already - I have over two and a half months to wait!! Thanks again James Quote
Mr Smith Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 i would suggest just outside town as difficult to park in town Quote
