Mother Goose Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 i took out my 10m flysurfer spirit today and discovered it is very slow at turning. Is that my kite or is everybodys kite like that?.If so, how can i make the kite respond quicker. Is shortening the lines a good idea? Please advise Quote

Zarudi Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 speak to Jangla, he is always playing with his wac on the 10m spirit. think he's getting the hang of it too. Quote
Jangla Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Ok first off, if you're like me, you're gonna hate the kite for a while but bear with it - I've had mine a few months and I'm only just getting the most out of it. Rest assured the wait was worth it - this kite ****ing rocks! First things first - don't bother mucking about with the WAC stuff for a few weeks. Set it on Full WAC- and full Tip Break and leave it there for now. The WAC- will give you more lift and the Tip Break will make sure the kte turns better about it's centre line. I'm still experimenting with mine but if you muck about with it when you're learning about the kite, you actually won't learn much. Much better to spend some real time learning how it responds in one setting before tampering with it. Now, unlike some other depowers, the trim strap on the Spirit requires more attention but you'll realise it gives you more control over what the kite is doing. Pull the yellow all the way in to launch. Once it's up and inflated fully, pull the blue one and keep letting it out until you feel the kite really start to pull. Depending on the wind this could be half way, it could be only an inch or two (will be less in high wind). You should find that you have plenty of steering now. The more you let the trim strap out, the faster the kite will turn until you get to the point that it turns so quick it loses all power - you've gone slightly too far at that point! As you're only in Bath (not too far I suppose), you're more than welcome to pop over to Oxford anytime and I'll take a look at it and give you some pointers. In the meantime, give that lot a go and let me know what happens. Quote
