Dash
I've just recently got myself an ATB and I love it, I used it for the first time at Wallop (sorry if I nearly ran in to anyone). On the saturday morning my 3.6 Beamer was great I really enjoyed it, but as it got on towards the evening when the wind died off a bit I really had to work the kite to get it to move me. So obviously I need me a bigger better kite. I've been quite seriously looking at either a 4.5m Bullet or a 4.9m blade. At the moment I'd be looking far more towards traction than I would lift, because knowing me I'd kill myself, so is the Bullet the right choice? Or are their other better suited kites out there? Thanks for reading Dash
keyrb101
in the right winds you can do relly nice controlled jumps on the bullet but in the wrong winds you can get lofted really high on the blade..
Zotty
as said above.. both have good points.. but my advice would be,, go for the bullet,, your still fairly new to the sport and your inland location. the bullet would be more forgiving and allow you to progress further in a safer manor,, move onto blades or something lift a bit later in the year... you wont go far wrong with a 4.5 bullet, 05 is a fantastic kite with bags of power and strong build quality can handle the gusts (your location) really well.. i gotta say that the 04 is also a good kite and can be had for some very reasonable prices since the launch of the 05. also not bad with gusts and same flexifoil build quailty
mattdez
ive flown both the 4.5 bullet and a 4m blade, not a 4.9 but hey. I started with a 4.0m blade and still use it a lot, but i reckon if u can go along pretty well on your board and beamer pretty well a 4.9 blade would be nice, as long as you take it out in the right wind. I find the liftyness of the blade not a problem and like it a lot when im jumping. I dont know about the new 05 bullets, but the old ones were a bit jerky and a bit boring for my liking. I think the bullet might be a bit quite similar to the beamer in characteristics, and if you want that then cool, but i reckon progressing onto a blade would be far more interesting and fun. Go on
Elliot
IMHO i would say the bullets are more than a little boring. No lift at all.unless you want that.I would go for a blade myself.I already have as my first kite was a 4m blade and that is an awwesome kite that is never leaving my quiver.goan go 4 it!!! Lip
both kite are excellent! ive owned both and still have my 4.9 blade, for what your doing the blade is my advise, go for it, you'll be glad you did
ragman
the blade 4.9 is worth a go if you are confindent but beware if you want height in terms of big air i recomend starting with the 4 metre as i came a cropper try a big jump on my first attempt on the blade range though the 4.9 is a beast in good winds! Dash
Cheers guys I appreciate the advice. As much as I like the idea of a blade I have a problem of not having enough common sense and I can see myself getting hurt (for example the first time I used a mountain board was in high winds at Wallop!!!) I think I'll get a second hand Bullet and get used to the extra power and then get a blade in a few months time. The last thing I want to do is break bones and be out of the sport for ages! Thanks again though I appreciate the help. And can I just say how impressed I am with the kiting community. I've only been doing this since the beginning of May and when I turned up to Wallop I knew no-one! But a couple of guys from Exeter were kind enough to take me in and let me hang out with them, in the end we had a quality time and I ended up camping over on saturday night. So hats off to all friendly kiters
B Y O B
IF u rely enjoy the sport then de powerable kite is the way forward!!. like the phantom, venom or flexi sabre. but if u have your mind set on bullet or blade, def go 4 the blade i think you will be dissapionted with the power an performace of the bullet. Herbie153
Without a doubt the 4.5 bullet is a great kite, i started with it about 8 months ago and have never looked back. I buggy alot more than board and it has some awesome power. I have also had a number of hair raising jumps with it as well, so will certainly get you in the mood for a further upgrade!!! Enjoy!!! mick
I dont reckon theres enough of a gap between the 3.6 and a 4.5. If theres not enough wind for the 3.6, the other's not gonna be much better. I think look at least 5.5 maybe 6 in Beamer type kite eg, LD or buster or try a 4.9 Blade. Take care with it and you'lle learn to love the power. But whatever you get, respect the extra power and lift thats available.
boode
With the low winds of summer comming - go for the blade If you are worried about hurting yourself - get a helmet I started with a 4.9 - its a great kite - you will love it
