black wind Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 I have just seen some windtech kites in a kitesurfing book. i've never heard of windtech before, r they still making kites, r they any good, and if they'r still made where can i try one. Thanks James Quote
npeac Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 i think their last effort was the zenith. they were the pioneers of 5 linnes and for the time were good. not seen any for a while. Quote
Sundance Kid Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 they are v efficent kites. The guys who engineered wipikas set up there own buisness -- windtech (i think) so these kites are quite decent Quote
BrianCalshot Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 The fifth line was pioneered by windtech, but only as a relaunch aid and it wasnt great on the 16m I had! I could be mistaken but it went to the trailing edge of the kite! Again I could be mistaken but Windtech are paraglider manufacturers or Parachutes or some fall slower aid. They did do the zenith which got brilliant reviews about 2/3 years ago ...the same time flexi bought out the Storm 1 My rebel was red! Quote
skytiger Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Hi, A friend has a rebel, it is only a 9m flat i think, it pulls a lot for its size because of the high aspect ratio. It is about as poerful as a 12m medium aspect kite i expect. It is no good in gusty conditions. It water relaunches well. It is very good for a 1999 kite. Quote
BrianCalshot Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Was it really out in 1999? I got mine as soon as it came out and it was my 3rd season kite! I was alway looking for something that would water relaunch easily...hence i EVEN HAD A NEXUS OR 3!!! I know when you are having fun time flies ..but i'm genuinely shocked Quote
shemKSW Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I remember trying the 5th line windtech in 1999! Seem to remember just how expensive they where, even back then!! Quote
BrianCalshot Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 re:1999 are you sure? storm 3 2004, storm 2 2003, storm1 2002 Windtech rebel 2001 and Nexus 2001, Naish ar 1999, Perhaps I didnt get it when it first come out ...or have i got my dates wrong ...bugger it might appear I didnt get any new kit for a couple of years!! MMMM I'll have to make up for it this year! Quote
jelly man Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 yeah windtech kites are old as but still pretty good they do seem to be very powerfull for there size. 7m is a cracking kite dont rate the bigger sizes much but then mots big kites from 2000 were naff Quote
