Kosmo Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 Hi, I want to start kiteboarding and need some advice on what kite I should choose ? I have been looking at PL Bombas, Guerillas and Venoms, but is twin skin the way to go. I would also like to use the kite on land, any help would be apreciated. Cheers, Kosmo. Quote
DaftCookie Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 Kosmo, If your intending on using the kite on land and water, and your still learning, you probably dont want an lei, they have a habit of bursting if rammed hard into the ground and its useful to have an assisted lanch with these. Saying this though, they are great kites and its what ive chosen to ride for now. Your other options: peter lynn(arcs) and flysurfer. Of the flysurfers, i would consider either an extasy or psycho 2. These flysurfers are extremely easy to relaunch of water and provide quick turning and good jumping ability. Peter lynn are are somewhat more difficult to launch but do provide great stability and have auto zenith. They also turn well but i dont know too much more about these. If your around the 75kg weight mark, go for say a 10m flysurfer or a 13m peter lynn G2, bomba or venom, and im sure you wont go too far wrong. Hope this helps, DC. Quote

sunset Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 best crossover kite for a biginner is the 13 Bomba but get yourself some lessons first. Quote
Husky_Joe Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I've just started to learn, after being a buggy boy for a few months. Got myself a Wipika core 11m complete with 5th line for £499. Great learner kite. You'll get sick of a twin skin if your learning...Harder to water launch, got a mate learning on a Peter Lynn Guerilla and he's having a nightmare. You can use LEI's on land fine, you just get LOADS of lift out of them. IMOA get an LEI Quote
lejonklou Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 For learning, nothing beats the Bomba imho. Launch and relaunch are an absolute piece of cake and as it sits a bit back in the window it never overflies or luffs. A kite you will soon be able to forget about as you'll feel where it is and can concentrate on yourself and the board. And yes, much easier than a G or P, which will need a bit more practice.
