natty Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Hi, i have just started to started kite boarding and am looking for some advice/web links on how best to travel up/down wind. i have been flying for just over a year and down hilling on my ATB for a couple of years, so thought it was time to put the two togther! im flying a blade 4.0 with handles but cannot go anywhere but straight down wind! i have had a look on the web but have not really found any decent instruction on kite boarding. Any advice would be very helpful. Quote
Marky G Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 i found it easier to get going when over powered. this means alot less effort is needed on the kite control side and ypu can concentrate more on the boarding part. M Quote
ZoMbooLio Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 The very simplistic way of describing it is: aim the board across the wind, and instead of going directly downwind, you'll go across it. It the kite pulls you off your feet, then the board should be pointed more at an angle downwind. Keep the kite roughly in the same direction the board is pointed. That should get you started Quote
The Geoff Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 It the kite pulls you off your feet, then the board should be pointed more at an angle downwind. ...or you should be leaning back more! Do a quick search for "Blue Peter" on this forum to find a video of a guy learning Quote
Bladez1599968597 Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Sounds silly but, always make sure you got enough wind or it's 10 times more difficult. Tim Quote
