Sw3d3 Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 i was looking for some ankle protection a while back - i found this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/Default.aspx?Main=ProductDetail.aspx&W=0&Manufacturer=SixSixOne&UberCatName=&Cat=cycle&CategoryName=&ProdID=5360009103&UberCat=0 they look pretty sick - but i don't know how good they are cos i couldn't find any reviews - though i do know they are sold individually Quote
jrobson Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Just curious re which vans you have? The shoes or the boots? Quote
mike c Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Those 661 things look pretty good. I just bought some vision street wear hi top skate shoes for mountainboarding / kiting as I like a bit of ankle protection. Think they're called DV8 or something. They are newish design but harking back to the late 80s (Rad!) - padded leather high tops with laces to top and velcro strap. They offer some protection (way more than my Ipath high top skate shoes) but I reckon if you land realy bad they wouldn't do that much. Unfortunately the ebay trader I bought them off sent two sizes two big so they're not too great to ride in. Good in theory though. Quote
pantman Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 These might be able to help ja too. http://www.vsportgroup.com/gear/support_anklebiter.html Quote
jrobson Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Try the chuck style (boot) good support feel to them, but I have no board yet so don't know what kind of true support they will give. Quote
Darren Bald Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 High leg magnum boots are pretty good - I use them. They give very good support to your ankles Quote
Fluffy Rabbits Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 A good pair of leather above ankle walking boots, that you can (comfortably) pull very tight. Upside, if they fit well they will give you unbeatable lateral and rotational (very important) support and impact protection. Downside, likely to be expensive and will have grippy tread on the bottom. That said, what are your ankles worth. Quote
Kitedeck Kid Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 i to have screwed up both my ankles and now i either wear walking boots or sk8 shoes with 661 ankle biters. The ankles are ok offer a little support but not a great deal, they are basically the anlle supports you get on football shin pads strapped to an insole. if you want ultimate ankle support and protection i'd get the 661 race brace with walking boots Quote
schmik1599968584 Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 I wore the 661 ankle brace for 6 months after i broke my ankle. It was very supportive. Out of the pack it looks flimsy but once you lace it up and strap it... it is SOLID. I highly recommend it. Just buy one. I got two and never use the 2nd one. Schmik Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 Another recommendation for the 661 ankle brace here. What I'd also suggest is you look at some old school Vision skate shoes. http://www.shiner.co.uk/catalogue/?itemID=282 Ankle support, and the feel of a trainer. They also last pretty well, as mine are now almost a year old and still doing the trick. Quote
