skytiger Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Do people get hurt? I have had the odd nasty crashes with my skytiger hi60, which is quite stable. Consequences have been ;- A twisted knee, where the board hasnt come off and i have been dragged, bruises. Have any maniacs broken anything? Quote
Oceag Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Only aches and pains and bruises so far. Just started to learn how to board and use larger kites now. Also tend to push my limits more these days so expect to get more bruises in the near future. My brother had concussion when he got lifted up and dumped on his head, he now wears a helmet. Quote
hotnginger Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I got dragged over a rock and it sliced my knee up. Had to have three stitches done and they had to really steralise it cos I got dragged through sheep poo aswell. Put it all down to experience- anyway the kite was a firebee and I hated it. THe Bego is much more predictable and despite having taken me up high, it has always brought me back down softly. Jono Quote

br d Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Had a bit of a pantomime crash on Wednesday. Got faceplanted on Tuesday by my Bullet 3.5 which left me with sore ribs, but being too stupid to learn a lesson I went out again yesterday and flew my Frenzy, thinking that using the harness would mean I wouldn't be putting too much strain on my ribs. Stopped concentrating for a second, got dragged across the field and dumped front down right on top of my board! Acres of grass to land on and I land right on top of my cowing board! 'Sore' has now become 'very sore' and I'm getting in and out of chairs sideways:) Live and don't learn, that's my motto. Once bitten, twice bitten. br d Quote

AIR-S Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I voted on the concussion one Went out sunday thinking that it was going to be a great day coz the wind was up. Got there, the wind was blowing at a average of 20.3mph according to the windmeter so decided to put my 6.5 flysurfer psycho1 up ... was flying for about 4 and a half hours when i feel the wind pick up a bit so i do a few lil jumps about 10 or 15 feet. then i feel the wind really pick up so i put the kite to the top right of the window. I got dragged about 10 foot and decided that this would make a good jump, so i turned the kite back and pulled the bar in I went up to about 15 foot according to eye witnesses stayed there for 5 seconds then went up another 15 foot. Then i had a really funny feeling about the jump i thought about the other kiters that have "fallen out of the sky", the next thing i know i start to drop, like a normal jump, not too fast, just right. Then i get to about 20 foot and i fell the kite over fly BIG TIME, becuase the gusty high winds that had just hit. The next thing i know i am letiratelly " Falling out the sky " I think to myself right, if i land on my feet im gonna break my ankles so the first way i thought of landin was by using my left side of my body .. so i land left foot first and then used my knee/shin pads to cushion it and used my left arm ( not the best thing to do i know ) and then my head hit the floor. then i bounced the next thing i know my left ankle wrist and shoulder are killing me and i had a really bad headache .... didnt fly for the rest of the day .. Didnt feel to well all week, was aching and very sore. Went to the doctors last night for a check up ( just in case ) because i hadnt felt to well and hadnt been eatin or drinkin. The doc says the reason I'm not feelin to well is becuase where i had the fall i have upset my brain:eek: . Causing me too not feel well or want to eat or drink and i thought i just had a cold .......... Quote

Mr X Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 hmmm lets see... l broke my rib a early last year then in June completely tore my anterior cruciate ligament, had the latter corrected with reconstructive surgery in October last year and I can just about jog again lightly now. It will be June/ July before I can do everything normally again and 1-2 years before my knee feels normal again. SO yeah I've gotten hurt. Quote

monkeyinshower Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I mis-aligned my Pelvis bone, during a particularly rubbish 360 attempt. These Physiotherapists aren't cheap either so its definately worth avoiding injury! Quote
yowi Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 wow 56 votes so far and 10 concussions! Quote
