how many people on here use open cell kites for surfin just wonderin what its like only used storms before

There are a few of us who surf with blades at Camber, they're excellent, very stable, loads of grunt, and you're on the water 15-20 mins sooner then the guys with the inflatable toys. :D :D :D

i use my blade ii 4.9 which is really good on a two line bar the only thing im not sure about is wave riding due to lack of depower to boost over waves (ive never really tried so dont know)

ive never "crashed" t in the water but i have had an equipment failure which ditched the kite. i dragged it onshore and shook it out then launched it out , it was dry in 10 mins.

i dont think id feel safe going far out on a blade as i dont really know what might happen.

I also kitesurf with open cell foils(Blades)and have no problems with them at all. I don't go out far, with there being no need to do so anyway. I'm very fortunate enough to have access to some great beaches here in the South East. When the tides goes out, myself and other kitesurfers are all surfing in about 3 feet of water or less.Set up time is just a matter of minutes of course with Launching and Landing being completely independant of others........Which is nice:)

And you're off the water for 15-20 mins if you dump it in the water ;) :D

Seen a few people doing it up our way, almost always end up ditching the kite. Biggest problem seems to be if you lose your board its really hard to body drag upwind on handles.

I ditched my Blade a couple of times when I was learning to waterstart but once I was up and running it was very easy to keep the kite in the air, and it's never come close to hitting the water since.

We use a 2 line set up on on a bar, it's all you need.

a while ago i kitesurfed with my 2m pkd joy , it was a bit difficult to go upwind but i managed for a while using a 169 lightwave board . kitesurfing without a harness really makes you realise the power needed!

ive kitesurfed with blades and bullets in the past thay have as much range as an lei, boost is not as high especialy with a bullet. there can be problems with learning jumps on the water with them as they can luff and fall into the water the learning curve can be slow with open foils as you do not want to drop them. ive even kitesurfed with a 2.5 bullet on a naish 115 stubbie in about 30mph the acceleration is brutal 0 to 25 in a second in those wind speeds that kite can be at the oposite side of the window to where it should be in no time youve got to keep your eyes on it.
