Jazzy Roy Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 I bought a wind meter from Powerkite shop in B`ham it was the meteos. great bit of kit, but looks like on the web site things have changed a bit since I bought mine. contact them at powerkiteshop.com and have a look. they are very good in pks.com Quote
Bushy99 Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 First things first HAPPY BIRTHDAY mate. I'm off to PKS in the morning to get a meter (it's my birthday on Thursday). Ring them, they are superb. Really helpful and supportive. I am in the lucky position of only being 20 minutes drive away. Trouble with that is, you never come out of there with JUST what you went in for LOL Quote
cooperman Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Got the Skywatch Explorer 1 for crimbo, £29.95 from Powerkiteshop. Nice sturdy gizmo with Stainless Steel back and internal light (in case you kite in the dark!!). Tells the windspeed so what more do you need?? Cooperman. Quote
Sand-Yeti Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 well i can only coment on the wind meter i have which is this one here http://www.powerkiteshop.com/access...icwindgauge.htm craig.w Craig .w pointed us in a good direction towards a smart wind gauge. It has good features like current, max. & average wind speeds . It also has a rotor head which allows you to stand it anywhere. You don't have to point it towards the wind direction. The upside from my standpoint is that we all talk in Knots here & that gauge measures in those units. Looks good Craig. Any problems with the fine sand trying to jam the rotor bearings or similar? Sand-Yeti Quote
The Geoff Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Trouble with that is, you never come out of there with JUST what you went in for LOL Yup, just like any kite shop. Went in for 50p worth of line, came out having spent £17. My girlfriend barred me. Solution? Applied for a job in there I still spend more than I should Quote
mecdave Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Any problems with the fine sand trying to jam the rotor bearings or similar? Sand-Yeti I've been using and abusing one of those Windtronics for over three years at the beach. The wind has blown it's tripod over and into the sand many times without any problem, even though the head gets packed with sand. Blow it out and set it back up (with weight added to the tripod). Never a problem. Quote
