I've been flying my 3m PKD buster for around 5 months now and i'm really keen on the idea of getting a board to use with it.

I'm looking at spending between £150 - £200, I was thinking of a Flexideck but I also want to be able to use the board for downhilling.

I was wondering if any one had any suggestions.

I looked at their website and they looked pretty sweet but it was V confusing, but from what I could make out the problem is that the cheapest apeared to £230 and that was with skate trucks

the webby is confusing, its so new that nothings really setup. i've ridden them a fair bit if you look at my sig ;) give them an email for exact pricing or ask nathan to call you and go through the decks, worth every penny you spend on them. plus they're sweet for downhilling too :)

for £200 then call www.upahill.com and ask about the scrub trampa, they'll do you a deal for sure, or can make up a custom. for that kinda money then go for the trampa route, the decks are unreal compared to the flexifoil decks, you really cant go wrong. andy or chris at upahill are s**t hot on their boards, you'll be seen to perfectly for your budget

Hi, Do a seach on here, any thing along the lines of Kheo Air-S or Scrub Silver Reef for a SK8 option (great for kiting) or if you will be mainly down hiling worth going for the Channel truck option such as the Kheo Flyer or Scrub Furnece Creek. A good condition used one can be had for around £100-120. Which is a good option as untill you can ride resonably well you can not tell what set up suits yu bested, ie 8 o9 inch wheels, stiff or flexi deck, SK8 or channel trucks etc?

I belive there is a nice Trampa on here for sale some were round teh £160 mark which woud be worth looking at, though if you wish to downhill with it surgggest going for teh long deck version (if your weight permits it) as teh short is really short and while great for the lower speeds associated with kiting (cause we just want enough to gain power for jumps), for downhilling you need something that can really handle speed and is more stable over very rough ground.

Flexifoil boards are nice if you like the heel side bias, but not to good for downhilling so may be best to steer claer in this case.

MBS Core 16 is also a very nice option, new they are £225 (so if you strech to that much then woth looking at the Overbilt option mentioned by Sky) but the Core can be had cheaper second hand.

Any way best of luck, Jon

Thanks thats really useful.

whats the difference between skate style and channel trucks in terms of performance. why are skate style prefered for kiting, surley channel trucks are better for both downhill and kiting as they give a smoother more stable ride.

skate trucks are lighter so you can knock off some weight on you board for kiting, but they dont perform as well as channel trucks. channel trucks are heavier but do perform better. in all honesty its presonal preference, if you like a highly responsive but more unstable ride then skate trucks do the job, but a smoother feel is had from a channel truck. throw in the added mystery of the new 2nd generation trucks like kitedeck revos, gi bionics, nosno and you're easily confused! i say go channel but a good quality channel if you've got the money, but a complete board will be around £230 then (look at mbs core 16 - nice matrix channel trucks, also same trucks on comp 16pro). but, keeping on the £200 mark you'll be looking at skate trucks, and your best bet is a scrub trampa in that range. another £50 and you're looking at something very nice like an overbilt or custom setup from www.upahill.com (basically phone up, say sky-blu sent you and they'll do you the best board for your money and what you want)

Andy at Upahill was really helpful when I was enquiring about a board, going to order one as soon as I get back from a trip away. I would have it before, but I can't get injured before this trip. :(

[Edit] I had pretty much the same budget and criteria as you and am going for a scrub trampa, but with MBS F3 bindings

cheers craikey, the mbs f3 bindings are well worth the money, makes the board feel so much more in touch. excellent deck that you can do anything on, be it downhill or kiteatb, go for it ;)
