mygrumpy Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 HI ALL.need help to chose a kite,must do all tricks,stalls easy,good for a novice,cost about £100, john Quote
MadMan1520 Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Go for a Rhombus Firebee awesome power for half the price! On coastgaurd kites a 2.0 willl cost you £99.95 but you could get one twice the size for the same price. Quote
JP- Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 think he is looking for a stunt kite! Some places are doing deals on Psycho's at the moment so you can pick them up for about £50. This will let you do everything... but any kite over £40 should. Maybe spend some of the money on a instructional vid' i got 'trickery flickery' when I started out which really helped Quote
GreenKiteFlyer Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 mate of mine has a psycho and he loves it. but he's been flying for a while now and apparently the kite lives up to its name. may not be best for a novice but more than happy to be corrected on that. certainly good for tricks. Quote
wot do I no Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 you should look at the HQ Phoenix £85 inc. lines, straps, wind brake and CD, have a look here (scroll down a bit) http://www.kiteworld.co.uk/acatalog/Kiteworld_Catalogue_H_Q_Kites_27.html plentys been said about it over at Gone with the wind forums, sign up and search. http://www.gwtw-kites.com/forum/default.asp (don't even think of the Psycho unless you're experienced) Quote
dnahacker Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 A psycho will not do everthing. it is old skool ... period, a kite that does EVERYTHING will sting you a SH*Tton more... the addiction from premier kites is a better deal than the psycho and far more up to date Quote
Sittingduck Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 spend a paltry extra £30 and get a benson gemini they're the mutt's nutts Quote
QUOTH Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 spend a paltry extra £30 and get a benson gemini they're the mutt's nutts ive been thinking about getting one of those, need to try one 1st Quote
JP- Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 I got a cheap fiberglass stunt kite at first as you can hammer them into the ground and they wont break like carbon ones do but they are quite limited in the tricks they can do so you will then need to up grade after a while, but will probably keep down the cost of carbon and effort of replacing bits when you first start out. Quote
BigDavey Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 That keeps the Addiction in the picture then - It's solid carbon frame is apparently very resilient... Hard to go wrong with change from 50 quid! Might have to get one myself - for the kids of course Quote
cj-bungatrot Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 That keeps the Addiction in the picture then - It's solid carbon frame is apparently very resilient... Apparently??? It's near indestructable. I still managed to break it though. It's good for beginners but I don't use it much now. I seem to have more luck with tricks on the Stranger. Quote
BigDavey Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 CJ M8y! - Where are you flying at these days? Haven't seen u fly since Missile that time (although did bump into you at Redburn...) Quote
cj-bungatrot Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 I normally fly at Murlough. I never go to Milisle these days. I've got the old axels on the Stranger now. Quote
nigel Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I second the Phoenix option. I got one a few months ago, great kite, and its my first trick kite. The spars are straight 6mm if you break them, none of this tapered stuff to run the costs up. It also does most of the tricks too, but I wish I could do more than axle. Quote
cj-bungatrot Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 , but I wish I could do more than axle. Lol, I know how you feel. Quote
dnahacker Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 I second the Phoenix option..... .......It also does most of the tricks too, but I wish I could do more than axle. How do you know it does most of the tricks if all you can do is axel ???? Quote
nigel Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 The Phoenix comes with a video CD of some far better skilled fliers than myself, doing most of the tricks. It runs for just under 10 mins. As for just axle-ing, got the half axle almost there and the slide comming along too!!! Quote
neanderthal Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 take a look at flexi@s fury i'm told its good for beginners very stable and capable comes with everything except ground stake for under £100 Quote
Wildchild Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 it's not as pretty as the stranger though, and from the review in the current issue of PK it's more biased towards precision rather than tricks D Quote
