victim Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 I just been looking at powerkiteshop.com website. They currently have a Flexi buggy and Blade 4.0 for sale. I was wondering how well this would team up with my Bullet 3.5? I spent a day at Watergate bay in a buggy with a Bullet 4.5 and had to work the kite in light winds. I was thinking of getting either BIG bullet (5.5m or 7m) with the buggy but concerned about a large gap between my kite sizes. Also a Blade might be more fun on the beach on holiday when the buggy stays at home. If I go for a Blade would anyone recommend the 4.0, 4.9, or even the 6.6m? (again, probably a bit too large a gap down to my Bulllet 3.5) . I know about the difference in lift between these kite designs, but wondered about the turning and power delivery. I read another thread about the Blades being smoother than the Bullets and being faster on the turn. My general feeling is to buy a smaller Blade than I would a Bullet but I still don't want to end up with a large gap. Thx in advance. Quote

For only haveing 2 kites, the wind window covered is going to be small. You really want to step either, down some size or up again. Remember that getting the 7m bullet and in a light buggy, once the summer has passed, there might not be that many days it could come out. If you are plannin for more kites later, the offered package could suit and you can grwon your hareem of kites on from that. Quote

True, but we can't all afford to buy multiple kites in one go :-( I'm trying to buy something I can use in lighter winds than my 3.5 but don't know how the Blade performance differs per sq. meter compared to the Bullets. One thing I did learn down in Cornwall is that bigger kites are no more scary than little ones - it just depends on the wind!! lol Quote

True but I didn't know what you aims were with a kite quiver. The power delivery of the 2 are different and I would go for at least the 4.9 blade. Can they do that as a package? Quote
Icarus Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 4.9 blade has a lot more pull than your 3.5 bullet and will static fly in quite low wind. 6.6 blades are nice but do have loads of pull think ur right that the gap may be to big.i went sky tigger 40 too a 5m rebbel at the time it was a good change of size. i would go 4 the 4.9 blade mate c how u get on with that or find ur local flying site and c if someone will let u try one Quote
Icarus Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 their is one shop in power kite mag doing a flexi bug 4 £250 with any bullet or blade! Quote
MadAndy71 Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Do you fly near Newmarket at all? My P's are in Ousden and I am up there this weekend. Not with my toys but I have in the past. Out beyond the clock tower roundabout on the gallops. Quote

Sounds like a good idea though and last time I spoke to them on the phone they bent over backwards just to send me a book. Tried a mates new WindWing 660 at the weekend (static). Nice kite - he's got a landboard and searching for "big airs, dude". Only problem I had with it was overhead - tends to over fly in light winds or when the wind drops and you are bringing it up. He had it on 2 lines on a bar but I'd imagine it would be better on 4 line handles to stop the problem. The chap down at Air Jam rated it better than a Blade of the same size if you want air (and he writes for KiteSurf). Probably not what everyone looks for in a buggy kite but great fun! Quote
