photek1000 Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I'm looking for a board soon to give me something to do when there is either no wind, or I feel like a buggy break. Now what are the suggestions for a board that is just as good with a kite as it is just downhilling. I have I reckon about a £250 top price I'd like to pay, and I am quite heavy, I know some boards have a reccomened rider weight. I was looking at the MBS Core 16 (£225) but it might not be upto the job. Any suggestions?? Cheers. Quote
jeffsnox Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Go MBS Comp 16 Pro. A bit more than you're looking to spend but definitely worth the extra. I'm on an MBS Core 16 and love it, but I can tell it's going to need replacing (the deck anyway) before the year is out. My friend has the Comp 16 Pro and: 1. It's a composite deck, not wood, and soo will last for eons. 2. It's super smooth to ride. 3. The bindings are absolutely ace, they fit AROUND your foot, not just tightly over it, so you can have them loose, but still not be anywhere near falling out when you don't want to - and at the same time, you can jump out backwards whenever you want. You won't regret it! Lots of people also mention Trampas - I've know experience of them though, but maybe they're the way forwards. Quote
pen-dragon Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 only a small british firm but have a look at www.overbilt.co.uk these are great decks thay are compisite and last, I youse mine with a 9.5 04 frenzy and when that hasent got any wind I'll go steeming about box woods on it (jumps bomb holes and trails) very responsive with oudles of "pop" decks are sold as blanks so you can fit what you like to them if upgrading or get one that is all built up, all there decks are custom built ot order and thay look the nuts Quote
mad_marc Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 Apart from the mass market, you can find a few interesting toys, that are not built to optimize profit but to optimize functionality: http://www.windscooting.com You won't be too heavy for these and you won't be the first heavy person to ride one. photek1000 Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 Well ta for your replies, but it looks like I have the opportunity to get a second hand MBS Comp 16 Pro which is in my price band. It's a nice board just a little much new. Cheers. Quote
Gretski Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Maybe worth thinking about a trampa deck? There also composite and the deck thickness is based on your weight so they are exactly as springy as you need!! I have a 35degree deck which has a much lower centre of gravity...helps a lot i think... Anyway the website is http://www.hillbillyatb.com Quote
garykf Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Check the for sale section: my mate PaulOc1 is selling a vitually brand new Trampa for £140. 14ply long and loads of pop for jumping or downhilling. Quote
