EvilTwin Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 I'm picking up a 'home brew special' bug chassis on friday, but there are no footpegs fitted as yet. on profesionally made bugs: do the foot pegs sit horizontal, or to they tilt up / back???? Its gonna be usefull to know, for when i get some welded on. Quote
flexibra Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 The footpegs can be slightly raised but i prefer mine horizontal. Its also worth considering having flat pegs as opposed to bar as it is more comfortable, but flat pegs need to be angled correctly for the foot position. Hope that helps Rich EvilTwin 1 Quote
EvilTwin Posted May 26, 2004 Author Report Posted May 26, 2004 thanks for the info. Picked up a set of wheels tonight for it tonight, collect the chassis on friday. its all slowly coming together. Quote
cboshier Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 footpegs can be what ever you like and as you're making them from scratch, you can make something just right for you. Personally I like mine horizontal and square to the forks and ronded at the ends to stop your foot slipping off the ends with a strap over the top to allow you to push and pull with one foot. On my Bike the ends ae rounded 90 degrees, and for the buggies about 60 degrees. I make mine from 1" OD stainless tube with a 1.5mm sidewall. If you know where you want them, weld them on but If you don't know where you want them or you want to move them for different wheels, then make them adjustable, I do this by drilling and tapping a piece of 1" OD stainless rod and welding it to the peg, this then attaches to the forks through a plate on the forks and is fastened with a 10mm Bolt and spring washer. Obviously for this you'll need to weld the plate on to the forks. The footstraps are a piece of 1" webbing, bolted at the outer end with an adjustable buckle in the middle. Hope this helps, but check out my sitee, you might get some inspiration from there. Will you have it ready for Middle Wallop ? Quote
