jtshort42 Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Hello all, I have been searching for a few weeks now and I am looking for a new kite, namely a low wind kite, I have looked at the Eola Perception, HQ Baby Tana and Prism 3-D and Flashlight designs but had no experience flying them. Has anyone had any experience of these designs or are there others that might give good all round performance. Can someone please explain what the difference is between precision and freestyle as well please. Regards Jeff Short. Quote
Agger Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Hello all, namely a low wind kite, HQ Baby Tana and Prism 3-D Jeff Short. Hi Jeff I have both of those and much prefer the HQ Baby Tana, it's probably possibly because I just use them for fun and not any serious tricking, it's also cheaper. It's not the hlp you want I know but at least it comes from someone who has flown both Quote
desciple Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Hey Jeff, I have a prism 3d but have only flown it a little. Takes very small inputs and basically I am a bit crap with it. I also have a www.kitecraft.de K1 SUL (super ultralight) which is a beautiful full size kite for low winds. Again it takes very gentle inputs but is a much more satisfying fly than the 3D IMO. You could also go for the Gemini UL (come on Davey I can't wait ) Pop on over to the forums at www.fracturedaxel.co.uk and you'll ge some more help with your questions. Quote
JP- Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 I had a flashlight last year and didnt like it at all. it might have been down to my flying style but i really hated it and ended up smashing it into the ground on purpose at great speed which ripped it in half. So if you want a ripped flashlight you can have mine for free. Quote
GaRRy Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Also look at a Benson Innerspace if you the chance (fairly pricey though) Quote
BigDavey Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 The Siebert's Sweety, Level One Amazing and L'Atelier 00 (double zero) would be good trickable indoor/light wind kites. The Amazing does tend to get overpowered outdoors though - It's really an out-and-out indoor kite. Another option is the HQ Breeze, not too dear and pretty capable - nice to fly and gives out lovely flat spins. As to Precision / Freestyle flying... Precision is very much about very fine control of the kite - Large graceful arcing turns, crisp angular turns, stall control etc. Freestyle is a style of trick flying - Getting the kite to move from one trick maneuver to another - It's less 'defined' than precision kiting, but still requires very fine control of the kite. To a degree it does (or did) require different kites with precision kites being more stable, slower in the air than the less stable trick kites - But all-round kites like the Nirvana / Hellfire and Fury are blurring the lines quite a bit.
