Bill Benson Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Which all terrain skates do you use and why (or are considering) ? I use Rockville Street feet because I usually ride asphalt and they remind me of skis. Thinking about trying Rollerblade Coyotes as well. Quote
rasga Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I found the trailskates pretty easy to get on with (review @ KitATB.co.uk); and you can dismount the brakes yourself so they dont get in the way Quote
seligmanc Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Has anyone tried the crosskates? Have never heard of anyone using them for kite blading, but would be intrigued as they look fairly cool... Quote

Doomwheels Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Has anyone tried the crosskates? Have never heard of anyone using them for kite blading, but would be intrigued as they look fairly cool... I have. The front wheels turn and the skates can't roll backwards... both are negative issues for kiteskating (I prefer a little more meat on the wheels too). Otherwise they have a very clean and well constructed look. I'm sure they are the best skate for their inteneted use - downhill off-road skating. Quote
seligmanc Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Bob, Good to hear from you mate. Wondered when you plan on approaching flexifoil about designing them a pair of especially made doomwheel/kite skates? Charlie Quote
Bill Benson Posted April 7, 2004 Author Report Posted April 7, 2004 Charlie: Hey mate, I got my new Coyote's in the post today. Everything looks really good with them, very nice quality. Just last evening I was doing some decent speed runs with Street Feet/5.0m Beamer but the wind is gone today, so I can't try the Coyote's under power. Probably a good thing Anyway did a run down the parkway with them and they were very comfortable. They seem to work a few different muscles than the Street Feet as I felt somewhat stretched when I got back. Looking forward to flying with them. Anything new across the Pond? Bill Quote
seligmanc Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Bill, Hope all is going well and the rollerblade coyotes are going well. I have added the coyotes to our off-road blades section: http://www.kiteblading.com/php/blades.php and was just wondering if you knew: 1) what sizes they come in (UK or US) 2) the approximate weight 3) what bearings they use 4) any extras they have (e.g. brakes, carrying bag, etc) If anyone else knows this info as well please let us know, Cheers Charlie (info@kiteblading.com) Quote
Doomwheels Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Wondered when you plan on approaching flexifoil about designing them a pair of especially made doomwheel/kite skates? Soon as they give me a ring, I suppose. Happy to help though I still find it most cost effective to build them at home. Someone is trying to market a set of adjustable rails that will fit with any skateboot size. Good idea. It will be interesting to see how he does: http://www.kiteblades.com Quote
seligmanc Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I had a go on Roces "Big Cat" skates this weekend and they were great for grass - quite similar to Street Feet but plastic wheels mean you dont get punctures. Charlie Quote
Bill Benson Posted April 25, 2004 Author Report Posted April 25, 2004 Hey Charlie: Glad to hear you are patched up and flying again. Well, I finally broke down and bought a Flexi buggy... guess I am getting old (alright, no hissing from the geriatric buggy section). As I said before, usually ride asphalt as there is a shortage of smoother fields here and no beaches. Thinking I can do some buggying on our soccer field which is a little too rough for skates or ATB's. Never fear though, still will be hitting the skates hard as always through the summer. Bill Quote
