bladebrother6 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I just purchsed an AM Custom board on ebay. It was cheap, and the straps, pads and fins where all good. But the deck itself was crap. crap hardpoints, crap finish, basically rubbish construction. I will probably bin the deck and make one myself, cause i've made better ones myself in half a day. I'm not posting this as some sort of personal vendeta against AM (who ever that might be) but just to let you all know that if you get offer one of these, look at it very carefully before you part with your hard earned. Or is it just that these 'zero volume' laminate custom boards are hand made by people with all the skill of a geriatric chimp? If so, hell, i'll start seling my creations! Quote
Stu_Trout Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 yeh but have you ridden it, ride it first and it may ride well, who care what it feels like, thin is the way forward Quote
bladebrother6 Posted March 16, 2004 Author Report Posted March 16, 2004 Haven't been out on it yet. intend to fix that at about 8am tomorrow! To a point you're right Stu, if it rides well it doesn't matter what it looks like. My beef isn't with boards that aren't pretty, hell i've made and riden a few myself! My problem is with people who sell badly finshed boards thinking that poor finish is exceptable, as long as you call it a 'custom'. Quote
bladebrother6 Posted March 16, 2004 Author Report Posted March 16, 2004 bob: just added it all up. set of four tfc fins, cabrihna straps, dekine deck pads. by my reckoning that adds up to about £100. As i only paid £120 (plus p+p) for the board its was pretty good deal. So basically i paid £20 for a ply deck. Quote
Stu_Trout Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 this was the green woody 120 wasnt it. I saw that on there myslef! Quote
jasevinda Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 I saw that thing! It did look bloody awful but you never know it might ride really well! Have you ridden it yet? Quote

I import Tad custom boards and these do not go on sale unless they are 100% spot on.If I was you I would send it back and ask for a full refund and tell them its crap and if you wanted to but fins and straps and pads on a bit of wood thats what you would have done. Don't be a mug send it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 king_of_the_sky 1 Quote
