bladeyIII4m Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Hi there, just bought a new blade III 4m, for £225 complete with ozone lines!!! what a bargain!!?? Anyway, I am itching to get myself onto the beach for some air, BUT, the winds today are about 16-25mph, I am gutted as I think this may be too much, or maybe not, I weigh around 12stone?? I also have a bullet 2.5m and wondered if this was ideal for the conditions. Help me as I really wanna fly.....dont I always?? Regards Mark Quote
Knoxville Jnr Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 depends on your experience i would be thinking twice about putting my 4m blade up in that. try the bulet first and see what thats like, then make a decision but BE CAREFUL! i was out last nite with the blade and it took me by surprise and dumped me on the floor. lucky i could go home and drink beer to numb the pain! byhff Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Hmmm, I can normally hold down a 3.5 Bullet, hooked in on a bar in 20 gusting 25 Knots but I'm 16 Stone (ok ok, I've lost 9 pounds in last month) and the Bullet aint got much lift compared to a Blade, I'd prob stick with 2.5 bullet unless wind dies off later.... Be Safe! Byhff Quote

They did have one scary moment when they got pulled of their board and did a nice +5ft air. Similar weight to me, I am happy to fly my 4.5 in wind approxing 20-25 but it doesn't have the lift of a blade. and I am on my Kava Static Flying then best below 20mph IMO. Quote
bigbadmonkey Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 i have a bullet 2.5 as well and a blade II 4.9 which i have read should have the same power of your 4.0 blade III. i can fly the bullet with out any problems in those winds but the pull is hard when i swing left to right in the power zone which is ok for me because i wheigh 230 pounds so i have lots of fun in those winds. the blade i have no worries about using in those same winds, the difference is infact better because the blade is slower and will not yank your arms so hard wich is what makes you fall flat on your face, it will pull you with much more power but you will notice that you have time to react and feel the line tightening, then you just lean back softly and enjoy a long skid. or you can swing from either side and just about when it is in the midle pull as fast as you can and make the blade rise straight up, this will make you go up about 6 to 10 feet into the air, depending on your technique. i will also stress that due to my wheight for some reason i have extremely soft landings the higher i fly into the air, i will enjoy the landings of a 6+ foot jump. on the other hand i have had some pain when i jump 2 or 3 feet but land on wet sand. believe me, kites do and act funny in certain winds, my 15.5 titan is the softest landings of all my kites. in truth, the bigger the kite the better the landing so dont be afraid to go out in those winds but always be prepared to dump the kite if you are over powered, even with my weight i always use kite killers while flying.
