Macx Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Hi togehter, I've just ordered a Acaneos/BHI FIberFLex deck with MultiChannel Trucks to learn landboarding. I'll use my Blade 6.6 for boarding, but its only for lower winds. I think about a new kite which I can use in stronger winds. Not strong, but stronger... What do you think? Does a Frenzy 03 still makes sence or is the 04 so much better? I'll get a good price for the 03 now, I think. The 04 is to expensive for me at the moment. I thought about these kites: 1) Blade III 4.0 2) Frenzy 03 7.3 (or 9.5?) 3) U-Turn Oxigen Prof. 5.0 4) JoJo RM 5000 All kites I decited for 15mp/h windspeed and above. Which would you take for landbaording? THX and Greatz Nils Quote
Roland Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I used to fly a 6.6 BIII befor I got my 1st Frenzy... I was going to get a 7.3 to partner it @ 1 point....but I got 2 like the Frenzy`s that much that the 6.6 was sold too make way for a 9.5... So the way I C it, you`ve got 2 option`s... Keep the 6.6 and go with the 7.3 OR sell the 6.6 and get a 9.5.. Quote
steve bocking Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 hi maxz, the choice is yours,if you want a high wind kite i would go with the blade111 4.0 m. it is fast and will generate enough power to landboard with in high winds. Quote

But, it having a fast kite a good thing when you're learning to landboard. I'm learning and the thought of having a fast kite to worry about and thinking about what's happening under your feet would just confuse things...IMHO I've got a 9.5 and it's great. Not too quick that you have to worry about it and loads of nice smooth pull...all I've got to do is stay on the board long enough to enjoy it Quote
garykf Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 No argument really - go for a frenzy 7.3 or 9.5. The 03 would be fine for your first Frenzy. It's only after you've flown them for a while that you'll notice the difference between the newer model. The Frenzy will give you a wind range of up to 20-25 mph depending on your weight (assuming the 9.5). The sweet spot is around 15-18mph. Utilising the depower will make it feel as though you're flying a 4metre kite. In stronger winds the air time is spot on with long floaty jumps. Not something you would get with a 4m Blade. Just my thoughts. Quote
Fugazi Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 6.6 for lower winds ? you should be able to hold that to about 25-26mph, which in my book isnt a low wind ! Above these speeds you need to use kites which drop you , not float, if your thinking of using it for jumping. Quote
ozone friendly Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 IMHO if you can hold onto a 6.6 in 25mph you must have arms like arnie!!! Quote
Fugazi Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 No i couldnt hold it by just my arms !!! Obvioulsy thats using a harness, had my 7.8 out in a 21-23 yesterday, that was totally maxed out tho. Quote
garykf Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Yeah - were all tough 'up north'. Dont get out of bed for anything less than 15mph do we Phil Quote
Fugazi Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 wouldnt say tough... more like stupid Quote
