Tim186 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I have been looking for ages now and i just cant seem to decide on a board to get, i dont wana spend over £200 so please dont mention the MBS range as they are WAAAAAAAAYYY out of my price range. ideally i would line to spend less that £200 i have found a few boards that seem to be good, so could some one recommend one of these or another one that i havent listed. 1. Flexifoil Flexdeck 2. Flexifoil KavaDeck (i know its 20 quid extra) to me it seems like the kavadeck is the best one, i have stood on both boards and feel more comfortable and stable on the kavadeck, i want to get into Kitesurfing later next year so will a board that i get affect me in anyway when it comes to me actually kitesurfing?? all help and advice is welcome and much appreciated Quote
Airwolf Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 The Scrub Trampa deck is a favourite for downhill (Tom Kirkham won on this) and kite boarding at under £200. The Earthboard set up is also very good but costs and weighs more at £235. I ride this set up though and am more than happy with it's all round performance. Recently due to lack of wind we have found ourselves speeding though forests, popping over logs and drops and generally tearing it up. If you live near enough maybe you should demo all the decks we ride. NO Snow- MBS- Scrub - Keho and of course TRAMPA. You can test them downhill at Tandle Hill Park or even at Ainsdale beach if we are flying. If the cash is low though and you only fly kites with your board buy a Silver Reef and don't ever look back. Pm me if anyone in the North West area wants to test any ATB's especially Trampa or Scrub. Hope this is some help Quote
Airwolf Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 oops sorry NW LONDON Im a Dumb Ass Quote
kitesurfa Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 > to me it seems like the kavadeck is the best one. It is.... > i want to get into Kitesurfing later next year so will a board that i get affect me in anyway when it comes to me actually kitesurfing?? No, it should help esp. if you get a flexi board. The shape of these is based on a TT surfboard a true 'Landboard' not a mountain board. Flexi boards are designed to be used with a kite, meaning it is very hard to ride as you would a Skateboard which is what a Mountain board is based on. Do a search in the for sale board and send a few PM's if you find any for sale. Gixer has one for sale. (If not already sold) posted in the last few days. Also a Flexi board is posted on Coastguard Kites Ads pages - Not a Kava. Also see the CGK site they were selling at 15% off RRP which is were I got mine. Savings made were spent on safety gear... Tim186 Posted December 8, 2003 Author Report Posted December 8, 2003 lol it would take me foreva to get up there Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 i dont mind the extra 20 quid if thats all it is but i refuse to spend over that amount of money cause at the end of the day it will be my first board so there aint any point spends hundreds of pounds some people are crazy to spend 3 or 4 hundred quid on them Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 kheo flyer, quite heavy but i find jumping is more relaxed than with a really light board - if this is your first board and you intend to upgrade then it is great to learn the ropes and for high speed cruising, if you want tricks you may want to check out the air-s - lighter than the flyer but no channel trucks:) Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 Yeh i was looking at the flyers, i think it will be between the flyer and the kava Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 flyer any day - imo a better board, still comfy but a bit shorter so you can jump with it Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 There's a link in my sig which might give you a few pointers. There are a lot of boards out there in the price range you're talking about...have a look around, see what takes your fancy. Oh, and if you fancy some downhill fun any time, then give me a bell. rasga Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Kava is more of a speed board than a jumping board, place that in your mind!, I love my Flexdeck, I only have ever stood on a Kavadeck a few times, not actually ridden it Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 JoeSchome your website was actually the first place that i actually looked! you have some good information, its just that little extra info that i was after and as for downhill boarding i think i would break my neck looking at some of the videos on your site , ragsa i have been on a flex deck neva riddien one though and it feels a bit high and unstable to me but having said that it seems like a good board Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 i have just been reading something about the new products that Flexifoil are bringing out, i saw that they are making modifations such as the graphics does anyone know what other mods they are making to the boards and when they are likely to come out?? Quote
Pugsleythefirst Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 If you call Dirt N surf in Worthing - He has loads of boards and some are nearly new so youll get a really good deal - Just click on the link and Im sure you wont be disapointed Clive Quote

stevelives123 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Loko has gone! if u can get a s/h one they are supposed to be very like kite surfing. Im with airwolf with the trampa. Sweet boards. Earthboard is lighter than scrub surely?! Check them out at www.hillbillyatb.com Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 i cant check out the trampa decks cause the site is under construction anywhere else i can look at them?? Quote
stevelives123 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 click the - "go to trampa mini site" Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 neva mind i have just found some, i dont like the earthboard i aint into all this lightweight fancy s**t and i aint spending that much on a board Quote
rasga Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 The Flexdeck or Kava is fine, mate. ring up a shop that knows what they on about (as in ridden both) and see what they think the best is for you? Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 steveklives there are no links, and ragsa i think i will do that, for me i aint gonna fling my self 20ft in the air all do all these tricks i just wana get away from static flying. i phoned PKS the other day and they said either of the boards but i think it was Dan that said he prefers the Flexdeck, i aint in a rush anyway, so i will most likely wait till after christmas and get one Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 i want to wait to see what the new flexifoil mods are on the board before i buy one now Quote
Guest Joebohobo Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I agree with rasga the flexi boards are dam good. As far as mods go I am sure that they are bringing out carbon fibre decks, not sure if its for all of them but my shop said that I would be able to get a carbon fibre deck for my kava, I am not sure if its true about the deck but flexi needs to hurry and put up a list, nobody seems to answer me Quote
Tim186 Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 try ringing flexi up, its worth a try, i know that they are giving the boards some new paint jobs according to the reviews of the paris boat show in EKS Quote
