Should I get 2 wides on the back or all 3?????

Am thinking of getting some big foots, but have seen lots of videos and pictures of buggies with just 2 big wheels on the back.

What are peoples views on just having 2 on the back? If you have a normal barrow on the front does it still get stuck in soft sand? Does it make a lot of difference having the front big footed as well???

Any comments greatfully recieved

In theory your front end will wash out (not want to turn the buggy )

on harder surfaces (grass ,hard sand ) on soft sand I am not sure what will happen .

I think it will just digin/sink.

the buggy needs to be balanced so it turns nicely and usually you need similar tires to do this .

most people who have bigfoots on the back and standard on the front simply can't afford the bigger forks /tyres for the front .

also the back end will be raised by 3 to 4 inches which will upset your center of gravity .

saying that plenty of people run with this set up , If you can get an intermediate in the front that will work better than a standard barrow type tire .

hope this is of help .

I thick busterboy is running with this set up try pm'ing him :D

I've tried it and found the following:

>On the grass (a bit slippy) turning was a disaster

>On firm sand turning was OK, perhaps wider than usual.

>On softer patches of sand the front did dig in a bit but steering was better than all barrows where the only way out is downwind.....

>In the water I was still able to steer out of slides

I borrowed Flydad's tractor treaded ATV tyres and put them on my PL comp - it looked comical but worked OK on the beach. Flydad has tried these a little more on his race buggy which is longer so doesn't assume such a silly angle and doesn't seem to have any problems with wash out on sand or dry grass.

You can always buy the third wheel and fork when you have more funds available, a fork costs almost as much as a wheel!

Ello there, I run Monster sized back wheels on my plcomp, i agree wiv Stone monkey about raising your centre of gravity but the bonuses of big back wheels are IMHO when on two wheels you know your up to far when the raised wheel hits you in the back of your head!

and wiv practice you can throw your buggy into a fast turn and come out on two wheels going the other way.
