Anyone tried it? Yeah, at Wallop! The RC is fast but range limited so would have to follow with car aswell. Unfortunately stability is big prob, they tend to lurch under acceleration and braking, tip over on sharp turns with added weight of camera kit (High CoG doesn't help much!) and view point pretty limited. RC Helicopters now that's another bag of fun altogether, anyone got one? Quote

rasga Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 I would feel sorry for that rider, having to avoid the car and multiple cameras (including trebor strapped to roof) flying and avoiding the helicopter, and also pulling off tricks within camera focus range Quote
Bonobo Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Not wrong there Rasga, though I did see a windsurf video once where this guy pulled a huge air and got the top metre or so of his mast sliced off by the camera copter. Followed soon after by a huge spanking once he hit the downdraft from the blades (Ouch) I don't think the budget would quite stretch to Helicopter Charter at this early stage. Quote
Bonobo Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Forgot to say, this would be good for me. Give me time to get hold of necessary stunt equipment and props for shoot. Quote
rasga Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Time for a bump, ideas, themes. .. Quote
Coolnutz Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Thanks rasguy!! I mean rasga! Quote
freez Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 i wouldnt mind seeing it in 3 sections beginner - basics of moving, (ie getting going) difference between skate + channel trucks,(how many times have you been asked) and the need to wear helmets/padding etc (which i hope you do) intermediate - a few basic tricks and improving on beginner advanced - more fancy tricks and moves and not forgetting all the out-takes, lol all those bits where you wipe out trying to do a new trick Quote
rasga Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 sounds familair. . .didnt i hear that layout earlier, though yeah that def. seems the way it should be also what about more no wind/flatland tricks. . . ? Quote
Coolnutz Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 You will have to feature a Girls Gone Wild section in the video as an extra. lol:D Have them holding kites so its kite related. Or a demonstration on female kite line bondage. :D Whats That I Hear? "Want To Win a DVD Player, Buggy or Board!!!" Sounds Interesting, I Want To Enter. . . . . Rasga is PKS paying you for licking their nads? Quote
Sylenz Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Me and a couple of mates have been looking to do a similar thing here in Norfolk. Not just with the boards, but the basics of kiting right up to buggy air tricks. I have read through all your suggestions, and there are some great ideas put forward. All i would say is,you dont necessarily have to put everything in 1 video. That could take a very long time to get the best footage, edit, etc. Do 1 thing at a time, start with the basics,(how to check line lengths, adjusting them, folding the kite, etc, followed by the basics of boarding/buggying. Once this video is completed,we can look to the more difficult tricks,in my experience, slow motion works great, you can see what the rider is doing with the kite, the hands, and any body movements. what do you all think??? Quote
rasga Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 All i would say is,you dont necessarily have to put everything in 1 video Yeah thats why there was the three parts bit, though the most important/interesting bit for most of us is when it comes to tricks the split screen combined with some slow motion could work out well. Plently of camera / end product ideas (i.e splt screen with path direction etc), All just needs to be pooled together, Quote
freez Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 why not do some in 3d if you cant get the shots needed Quote
Bonobo Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Slo mo is wicked, done some buggy shots like this and it really defines the motion during turns and bouncing around like you would never see at normal playback speeds. 3D, probably too difficult or expensive I'd imagine (Tell me otherwise!!) but the Split screen multipoint views rasga mentioned would give the same feeling but less technical input. Rasga I would definitely like to see some basic ATB stuff in there even if it was just for the road trip section messing about , jumping over volvos etc. Again we could do a whole other vid on just ATB downhill and tricks but it would give the vid a more rounded feel because peeps may be into both with/without kites or thinking about trying so just need a kick in one direction or other. freez Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 3d can be done quite quickly and cheaply, i use "lightwave 3d" (ill do basic stuff for free if needed) as a test, i made a 3d board in 30 mins yesterday, it depends on the level of detail, as it shouldnt need too much, just board and wheels, it can be done surprisingy fast. Yeah good idea Freez, would be interesting add-in to the beginner vid esp. Would be good to see some stuff you've done of boards etc give us an idea of what can be achieved. I've not worked in 3D stuff myself so v.intrested. Cheers and promise to read things more clearly next time. Quote
rasga Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 3d can be done quite quickly and cheaply so a general idea of people having fun messing around is starting to cost money lol Sounds good can you export what you done to a movie file. . jsut rotating board or something? Also when it comes to sound tracks (ie for rad road trip bit). . got to be careful! Quote
