Jofski Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Me and my mate have heard great things about the terrain in Pendine and we want to pay the place a visit very shortly.... Can one/all of you local boys / girls give us some info on the local conditions..including the onshore wind direction..plus the nearest port (to find out tide times) please ? Most grateful. Quote
freakien Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Ever heard of a map? The beach is South facing - so SW, S + SE is onshore http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tides/ - Mumbles, will give you the tide times up to a week in advance. Ian Quote
lardyb Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 A better port to work the tides off is tenby as the bristol channel does some realy weird tide charts. I use this http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/marine/tides/20031105/0502_20031105.shtml If you do go there the access point to the beach is in the village (by the museum of speed). Drive down the slip onto the beach and your best driving up the beach to the first observation tower (about 2 miles). once you get there u shouldn't get bothered by the quad bikes etc. The beach is closed in the week as the MOD like to drop things near it and you know what their aim is like. As such your best to keep an eye out for any mortors that have strayed onto the beach and give them a wide berth. Freakin's dead right about the wind so don't bother traveling there if your miles away and it's northerlies as it's crap then (gustier than a gusty thing just out of gusty skool). Quote
