pieinthesky Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Howzit guys & gals Iv'e got myself a LD 3m and love the pull it gives. It is currently flying on 20m lines. What would the difference be to the way it handles if I flew it with 30m lines? Thanks in advance Quote
Kroy Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 There's loadsa threads on line lengths... basically... [*]You get cleaner wind - less gusty and nicer to fly on inland or if the wind is offshore [*]You have a larger wind window [*]the control is a bit slower (or so i believe) [/list=1] I usually fly the blade II 4m on 20m lines and it's normally alright, but I have flown other blades on 40m lines and it's quite different control wise... + the kite looks tiny! the_lone_wolf Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 it might be worth investing in some longer lines, my ld is now my high wind kite and it's so twitchy i'd prefer to fly my blade in the same winds. some longer (30m) lines might take the edge off it, will have to try Quote
JMF Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Long lines for light winds Short lines for strong winds;) Quote
Tom183 Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Also bear in mind that the longer the lineset, the more time it will take the kite to cross the power zone - not as important with a buggy, but for static flying it can be an issue (no "off" switch)... On big, slow kites, this can be a little scary - kite starts moving from edge toward power zone, power slowly grows and grows and grows and GROWS, barely hanging on and the kite isn't even at the center yet, small gust hits and you're overpowered with a long way to go to get to the edge of the window...
