Newboy (bladerunner),, I was pleased to see you enjoyed my antics at the 2002 windfest in huntstanton... If you thought that was good u'd better keep ur eye's open around at festivals... I'm the one in the Yellow T-shirt... Any one interested in jumping, me and a mate Richy will be doing a class on buggy jumping at the westwood Ho! ant1599968573 Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Just watched the video and it looked great. I was wondering how high you take the buggy upto? I jump in a parastorm buggy and have managed to reach heights of about 12ft. I notice you come from the King's Lynn area which means that you must buggy at Hunstanton and Brancaster a lot. Do you want to meet up one weekend and compare jumping techniques? Quote
The Flyin Scotsman Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Hey Ant, you must be back home now, hope you enjoyed Stevenston for the rest of the time there, lol, im the young scottish one who 'borrowed' your 4.9 and parastorm for a while, anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread BuggyAir. Buggy Air Posted August 31, 2003 Author Report Posted August 31, 2003 Hey Ant You must have been really over powered to get a buggy as heavy as the Parastorm to that hight... In my experience i have found the 6ft feels like 12ft... I've been to highs of about 15ft for longths of about 30m just before Christmas last year... Mad day and that was on a 4.9 blade 2... I was at brancaster today but was dissapointed in the wind wished i had stayed in bed. Should have been there yesterday. Quote
ant1599968573 Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 I was flying an 8.5m Blade III when I was reaching those heights, and yes I was a bit overpowered. I have it all on video as well. I was at Brancaster on Sunday and the wind was pretty bad but it did start to pick up about 5.30, I managed to get the parastorm about a foot off the ground ( but that was with a 10.5m Blade III really working it hard!!) Which buggier were you, maybe we bumped into each other without even realising it. You missed a great day on Saturday though. I was jumping about 5 or 6 feet off the ground with a 4m, and managed to get to 42.6mph! Cheers Kev for your hospitality at Stevenston I do remember who you are. Say hello to your dad for me. You missed a great day on Monday, I was there all day jumping with the 4.9m untill I ended up in the patch of thorns in the middle of the field!!! Quote
anc Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 that soo cool. you guys buggying together. in estonia we have max 4 buggiers I think. so we dont run into each other when we go buggy. but tell me about the straps you use to get your butt firmly into the buggy so you jump with the buggy not without. without the buggy it would be cool too. going at high speeds and jump out, do a 360 or something and land back in:) Quote
Buggy Air Posted September 1, 2003 Author Report Posted September 1, 2003 Hey Anc All i use is a velcro lap strap.. there is a way out if u need too but it is best to always try and land on the wheels,... 1,2 or 3 it doesn't matter... Did u see the video??? Mark Quote
Guest Nevermind Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Yeah but ant u wouldn't have got ure buggy in the air on sunday if i hadn't purswaded u to launch ure 10.5!!!!!!!!!!! See you soon Craig Quote
Peter Pan1599968576 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Ant. I notice that you have spent some cash on Blade 3's. I have seen on the site (Landboarding) that some think that they lack stability. I am about to plump for a 4.9 and start to try a bit of jumping myself and I would very much value your thoughts on the new blade. Quote
Richy303 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi guys, As my name keeps getting mentioned on this thread, I thought the least I could do was post a reply! Pete - 4.9's a top-tastic size for jumpin with esp now Flexi have made their kites fast enough to turn (lol ). It can be argued that the larger, the higher and longer, but in a good wind, 17-20mph+ , 5mtrs are so quick and snappy it's a lot more thrilling than a lazy (dare I say easy ) jump on a bigger canopy. So, who's comin down to Ho! later this month? .... hopefully get some autumn winds and some BIGUP's ) ...I want to see this parastorm off the ground too; Some machines just weren't built to fly ! lol. I've still got to work out how to fly this 10 Rhea I've just bought ... anyone used one with a buggy b4?... got any tips? Quote
MadAndy71 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi Mark, I fly with Rob (Trebor) and saw you at MW jumping like there was not a care in the world. How much shorter are you now you have been jumping. Looks like you take quite a jolt. Quote
Richy303 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 well, he was jumping on Saturday until he sold his kite! lol. ...left the field open for me on the Sunday - cheers mate; Got some nice air that day, shame you had to sit it out, hehe!! (try not to sell them at Ho! yeah?!) Quote
Buggy Air Posted September 3, 2003 Author Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hey Andy I've been jumping for abput 3 years now... I'm not any shorter and no back injuries really to speak of... I have got alot of cares and stress in this world being self employed so if i hurt myself i'm knackered.... But when ur in the air ur free, it's quite.... NO engin noise just the wind and sometimes the brown smoke trail comming from my arse... lol ;P Mark Quote
ant1599968573 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I know the parastorm buggy was designed as a speed machine ( and the speed you can get out of it is impressive!) but I just couldn't help jumping with it. Within the first week of buying it I had taken it upto about 7 ft and on the landing I badly damaged the back axle. The arm that holds the suspension set up in place had taken such a beating that it had torn a gash in the back axle and if I had used it anymore would probably have caused a lot more damage. Keiron Bradly (the designer) was kind enough to fix it for me and to also reinforce the suspension arms and back axle so that it could handle my jumping with it. I still check it after every jumping session just in case anything else has been damaged. It is a very heavy buggy and I am no small guy either (no **** taking coments...Craig!), so it does take a lot of kite and hard effort to get the whole lot airborn! But it is worth it just for the adrenaline rush!!!!! Keep Flying Ant Quote
langy Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I wanna learn to jump in my buggy, I'll find you at X-zone on the friday or saturday. Do i need to fix a 'strap' or anything to hold me in ?? Sean Quote
Buggy Air Posted September 4, 2003 Author Report Posted September 4, 2003 Oh yes a velcro lap strap is essential..... Quote
langy Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I will endeavour to get some velcro over the next week and make some form of strap, c u there Sean Quote
TCPM Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I also intend to join you and gain some tips. I have tried it a couple of times but as you can see from my kit list there aint a lot that can get me off the ground! With any luck my 4.9 Blade III will turn up before Ho! Quote

Peter Pan1599968576 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Thanks BA. Hey, weren't you in the A Team? No. Can't be the same one. He had a fear of flying!! Quote
Richy303 Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Ant - are you coming down for the X-Zone this weekend? I'd love to see you jumping this parastorm. Let me know and we'll all catchup eh Mark? Quote
ant1599968573 Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Richy303 - Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the X-Zone this weekend as I have work commitments. I am sure we will meet up soon at another venue where you can see the parastorm airborn (maybe even try it out for yourself). I have attached a picture of the buggy in flight. Hope to meet you soon, Ant Quote
Richy303 Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Ant - that's some good jumping - esp considering the size of your buggy. Nice one! Shame you're not making the Ho! games. If you're ever in the area be sure to drop me a line. laters. Quote
Grumbly_Groo Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Nice picture. What kite & wind was that with??? Quote
