search for the subject in the archives. AndyS has writen some great explanations on the technical bits about AR

Basicly

high AR = fast aggressive kite that needs to have a decent pilot holding on top it

low AR = forgiving easy to use kite

totaly basic explanation that ignores so many other factors but not to far off the truth.

In complete basic terms, Aspect Ratio generally refers to the ratio of the wingspan of the kite to it's area.

A simple kite, like the Super 10, has a ten foot wingspan and a 20 foot area. The formula is "Wingspan squared, divided by area". So 10 squared is 100, divided by 20 equals an AR of 5.

A 4.9 Blade 2 has a wingspan of 5.2 metres, which squared is 27.04 metres. 27.04 divided by 4.9 = AR of 5.5.

There are other factors which can affect this calculation, but this is the basic answer.
