Have a bit of a problem and was wondering if anyone has similar experience and can offer any advice. Have a 4.9m Blade and a number of stackers(6and10).

Also have a 10year old who is very capable with two liners and has used up to three stacker 6 kites together on a mountain board to great effect.(full safety gear etc)

He's had a go with the blade and scared himself and I s***less. Not too strong a wind and I thought he would be safe and he was as long as I held on to him(flown on handles by the way).

Now the question is to get him in to 4 lines what do I go for . He enjoys the mountain board and also getting air(not quite as much as he got with the blade though). Thought of a 1.5m bullet or maybe a firebee or should we opt for a smaller blade.

Any advice would be welcome

How about a small little devil - they seem to be quite good - not too powerful, but they have enough power (especially for someone small) and would teach him the basics, oh and they wqouldn't break the bank too much either :)

The PKD Buster 1.4 is well worth a look - controllable, and should pull hard enough for a 10yr old. I weigh 15stone, and have been pulled all over the shop in a good wind. Mine took a bit of tweaking of the brake-line lengths to fly nicely, but other than that needed no attention. The price compares well with firebees, bullets, etc...

Cheers,

with the quality problems concerning the leader lines and bridles (who said firebee bridles were rubbish?) id avoid the buster for now, even if it is slightly easier to fly. a bee will give him lift if he works it along with increasing pull and can be flown on the main lines until he gets used to using the brakes. a little devil will last longer though, and is more stable. but the firebee will give him a more exciting ride. alternatively you might be able to pick up a symphony pretty cheap as the new lines are out from hq.

Thanks for the help. Will see if I can get him to test fly a few of the suggestions prior to parting with the cash. Cheers

Just a quick query to bushflyer: The size of symphony that you would recommend( 1.8 at £53 cant be bad or do I need to go bigger)

yeah a 1.8 sounds about right. is it 4 line though? cant remember. ive seen 14 yr olds boarding with 2m's but from your description if he can fly 3 stackers a 2m will be no problem. just ease him into it.

little devils will be great, they fly realy well and have effective brales, with loads of power and stability. they also take loads of abuse, and are cheaper than most kites of the size. Blade would be good too but it may notbe as forgiving as the blade. Take a look at http://www.flyozone.com and look at ld, anythin from the 1.5 to the 3 would be fine. the best thing to do is try them al and see what he prefers.

Try an ozone little devil 2.1,,,got my 8 year old flying 4 lines with it no problem, although do keep an eye on them as even the 2.1 has a decent pull.

Yep, go for the LD 2.1 it is very well behaved excellent for kids. i've also got a 2m Blade and wouldn't recommend it for kids becasue it is very jittery.

All the symphonies are 2 lines (except 3m, 4m) the symphonies are also measured tip to tip and not sqm

Thanks everyone for the replies have now placed the order for the little devil 2.1 , stumbled across a guy at Rosneiger who had one and who let us have a bash(Fair swap for a blast with my Blade) It was great really stable but with a good pull and will no doubt help me improve my technique too.

Josh had a great time with it and looking forward to hooking up with scrub board.

I will be investing in new underwear for when he has a go in anger!!!
