FireBee Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 A Kite-ATB Max Speed Leader Board: (Please Enter Your Kite/Board/Wind Details + Max Speed Achieved) !!Liars Need Not Apply!! Heres mine: FireBee 3.0m + Kheo Air-S + Gusty/Shifty = 19.5mph Quote
tom1599968574 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 dont have any speeds with a kite, more interested in air but downhillin, thats a different story!! sol 16 = 31.8mph dirtsurfer = 38.0mph both set free wheelin down the hill back from uni. its just under a mile long, 11-13% gradient. speeds measured with my gps so there pretty accurate!! the sol is on the standard 8 inch semi slicks pumped up to bout 40 psi. the dirtsurfer is on slicks pumped up to about 60. tom Quote
specificpig Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 got 32 downhill and 26 with my frenzy (which is broken:mad: ) Quote
Guest joe Mc-H Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I've only bothered trying to mesure the speed once. qudrifoil XM (about 3.5m) + scrub dirty harry + light winds = 13.5mph this was mesured by my brother in law trying to match my speed on a bike with a speedo. I like the GPS idea. How else is everyone working out their speed. can you buy speedos for ATBs? I'm trying to maintain the idea that kites and boards are supposed to be a laugh rather than a challenge, but a darker side is wispering to me about wearing lycra and using a bigger (no! MUCH BIGGER) kite regardless of the wind Joe Quote

specificpig Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 it is in the post fr repair as i write this. There is a rip going all the way through one of the cell walls length ways. It was a mystery to m,e as to how this couold have happened but chris hill said that if u crash it leading edge first this is very common. And i remember doing this so that must be the case. Blooming annoying though!! Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I've never used a speedo personally, but I know a fella called Jay in Cardiff regularly sets off speed cameras on his dirtsurfer... ...does that help? Quote
Agger Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Sorry to hear about you Frenzy M8, hope the repair is underway and you are in the skies again soon. Quote
halswellp Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 i don't have an ATB but i want to get one. is the 3m bee a good kite(i have one) to use with an ATB or do i need to get a bigger one. also the the air-s a good beginers board. cheer peter Quote
FireBee Posted April 23, 2003 Author Report Posted April 23, 2003 I currently use a 3.0m FireBee with a kheo Air-S! I used these as a beginner and although i have no comparison i found them very good! When the winds steady the firebee 3.0m is great and power rings help too! You need to work the kite alot to maintain the speed on the atb, but the FireBee always needs working, thats what makes it fun! Quote
tom1599968574 Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 make that 39.0 with the dirtsurfer! if its nice tomoz, will go for 40! rpoblem is the bottom section of the hill is v rough and bumpy. not good at high speed!! tom Quote
bookie Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I have a 3m bee and a Kheo Flyer, works OK but you need a lot of wind to get any descent upwind performance, think i am going to get a 4.9m Blade 3 when they come out, should get some overtime soon. As for speed I have know idea, got pretty fast on the beach the other day but I was concentrating on killing my self, had a bad experience with a sand board, so I am bit weary of sand. Bookie Quote
