tazz Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I would like to hook up a speedometer on my buggy. Is there a special one for a buggy or can a bicycle speedometer be mounted? All info welcome Quote
jbrown7911 Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I use a cateye bike speedo series II or something its the only one i have found that gets down to the 1256 mm setting for the small wheel. but i recently dumped it for my GPS system. Regards Joe Quote
Agger Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I mounted a speedo on my buggy and I used silicon sealant to secure the magnet on to the wheel, IMHO better than glue. :D Quote
IanB Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I see that Casio have just released a GPS watch for about £200. I dont know much about it but I just thought you might like to know! Quote
MadAndy71 Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Standard bike speedo's from halfords and argos can be used in bith the wired and wireless form. Fitting the magnet can be done by boring a small hole through the plastic wheel or securing it with a silican sealant type thingy. I have a 9 function wirless one from halfords. Standard wheel are ok. Calibration lists within the packet dont show that you can set it to such a small wheel diameter but it is possible. Mine is set to 1280mm on a 16" tyre. Quote
HORLEY_KITE_NUT Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 If you go to http://www.coastguard-kites.com web site they sell them there (click on buggies - parts - accessories ) . they are ones made by Panoram and do 2 models (wire - &40 / wireless - &45). Quote
tazz Posted February 8, 2003 Author Report Posted February 8, 2003 What is the top speed that you guys have reached? With what kite & buggy? Quote
MadAndy71 Posted February 8, 2003 Report Posted February 8, 2003 Thats an interesting question. A post was made for everyone to list kite buggy wind where and speed in a buggy. This was quite a few weeks ago now. Then I had 27mph. That was in a rough park. IT FELT FAST!! Now I have done just under 40 on a beach and it didn't feel as fast. My park run was with a blade 4.9 and the beach run was with a rad sail 3m. Quote
bridbuggy Posted February 8, 2003 Report Posted February 8, 2003 For the most accurate speed you need to measure your wheel circumference (the number required by most speedos) as the level of inflation affects the circumference. I've only managed 34mph with both my 4m Blade and my 2.5m Razor - but my speedo is set at 1220mm for 16" wheels!! Quote
Bob Monkhouse Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 This one seems to have lasted longer than most. A good few months beach use and still going strong. No buttons on the front to clog up with sand either. Argos Cat.No. 333/2036 Price £9.99 Drill hole in wheel and screw through into magnet. Mine's never budged. Cheers Bob. Quote
