Hello All,

Just wanted to send out a message regarding a new event, called BOOST (BOOST), that's organized by marketing and PR agency, Proper Propaganda, and Kite Provo, in the Turks and Caicos

It is a luxury, small group affair that combines a kitesurfing adventure with tailored content from top thinkers on digital marketing.

Sponsored by CORE kites, the kite portion of the event will include daily coaching, pre session yoga to get you limber, post session massage, the chance to demo CORE's latest gear, the opportunity to ride with a CORE pro rider, epic down winders and boat trips to remote flatwater locations. We've even got a session on nutrition for kiting. ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME including people who have never touched a kite.

The business piece involves helping entrepreneurs and execs overcome their most pressing digital marketing programs. The aim is for people to leave with a roadmap of specific actions to undertake when they get back to work. Getting these answers would cost far more if you hired an agency of consultants. Our speakers helped Fortune 500 companies and have lectured at The World Bank, Harvard, Stanford and McGill. Given that it qualifies as a conference, you can expense the cost of this event as a business expense.

We are staying at a complex called Windhaven. It was built by kiteboarders for kiteboarders and so has everything you need - from air compressors, to board racks, self launching and landing posts. You can literally kite right outside your door in shallow, amazing Long Bay. It is a great area for all levels and VERY uncrowded.

Website is BOOST. We've only got 8 spots left so register now.

You certainly came to that rather serious accusation very quickly. In any event if you'd like to private message me I'd be happy to chat about the event.

Thanks,

Jackson

I think being an open forum, personal opinion is very welcome be it right or wrong but why take the argument to PM when many on here, including myself would be more than happy to read your justification. Sort of strange, and I can see Andys thoughts that the first post from yourself is an advert to a major event. Nothing overly wrong I guess. It may seem you joined the forum soley to offer us the chance of this experience.

Chat away Jacksonwightman. Do you have a background in kiting? Yes I see you started in 2013. Are you still kiting REGULARLY a year later?

Personally I think 8,900 dollars is too steep for me tbh. even if I could put it down to expenses. I'm sure there are a few on here who will be considering it tho.

Virgin Armada was about £120 to enter; this is approx 5.4k. What do we get for that?

Jeez we need to put up our prices!

Ah yes Mr Blast but do you have stimulating après kitesurf speakers. Having your bollucks out on show at the dinner table hardly counts as stimulating. (Unless your KSA of course)

Hi All,

Thanks for the comments and feedback. Andy, thanks as well for your thorough-ness and due diligence.

Couple of points:

The price is obviously not cheap. But then again it is not simply a kite trip in the classic sense - something that several posters seem to have compared the event to.

Let me be clear: The idea here is for participants to solve specific challenges they are having with their organization's digital marketing. This is made clear on the website but your helpful feedback makes me realize that we need to do a better job of conveying the point. Thanks.

If you think of it in terms of anything - it might be best compared with the fees you'd pay an agency to fix or audit elements of your organization's online activities.

Indeed once registrants sign on we start the process of looking at their businesses and delving into what digital marketing challenges they face. This process continues right through to the end of the event over the course of several months. As an owner of digital agency, I can safely tell you that what we are offering with BOOST is MUCH cheaper than what this sort of activity normally costs. (I suspect any of you who've paid agency fees for an audit or "strategic plan" are well aware of this).

I hope this clarifies how unlike say Virgin Armada or a group trip to a destination this event is (I do not in any way mean to suggest Virgin Armada or kite trips in the conventional sense are not amazing - just to highlight how BOOST is not fairly compared with these). We are doing something quite different in that we aim to help solve a specific business challenge that participants face over a process of several months of work that culminates on the event - so to compare BOOST to a classic kite trip or Virgin Armada is to compare apples and oranges.

Somebody else had asked about my personal relationship to kiting. Suffice to say that I am heavily addicted to the sport and session as regularly as I can (usually 2 times a week). Obviously at BOOST I am not leading the kite program - though we do have a wonderful partner in Kite Provo who've been at it for years.

Again, I hope this clarifies things re the event - what it is and what it is not. I also apologize if I have offended any of by posting about it here. I am happy to remove the post if that's best - of course I have commercial interest in the event, but i genuinely felt that some on a forum such as this might be interested in hearing about it.

Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

Jackson or Jacko if I may call you that. No seriously Jackson or Jacko who obviously is not you is a well known crook on this forum. Didn't get off to a good start there mate. :D Your explanation is great and will be well accepted. If maybe some had had this info earlier we all could have given you a better start on KC. We can be a little volatile, but like Andy has shown, we don't mind apologising and hopefully moving on. I'm not wholly sure how many on here would be interested in BOOST but hey, better to have the opportunity to be involved than not being invited. Welcome to KC. Hopefully you'll stay involved with the forum.

digital marketing as defined by Google:

digital marketing

In simplistic terms, digital marketing is the promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media.

Are you running this event, or taking part in it to help with your current challenges ;)
