madmanmatt Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 i've seen a lot of videos and seen a lot of people flying the flysurfer speed 3 dlx 15m are they really as good as every one makes out ? im deciding between the flysurfer and the ozone frenzy 2014 any one got any advice would be very grateful as haven't flown either thanks matt Quote
DarkHunterSo16 Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Hi dude, I used to ride Ozone, they are a awesome company and make great kites, but then I got a flysurfer and it all changed and became so much more fun and epic. With a flysurfer you can progress very fast, you will have soft floaty landing, awesome hangtime to do tricks, safe flag out and AMAZING D-power. Watch my videos if you don't believe me. ABE SuperKiteDay - YouTube Th Frenzy is a cool kite, they discontinued the Manta and thats what I used to ride, they put all there effort into the LEI kites and didnt develop the foils as much. Only recently they got better. They are very good for snowkiting but for kitelandboaridng you wont get big air and hangtime. But the Flysurfer will give you good times every time and you can use it on land snow and water Quote
mick Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Flysurfer or Frenzy? Yes it has to be a Chrono. There'll be loads of Flysurfers available very soon. Quote
BigE Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Prey tell oh wise one "Chrono" SLE a foil beater? Quote
mick Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Well oh dumb ass, I may tell you that the Ozone Chrono is a high or maybe make that, a very high aspect foil. And beautiful it is. Few bits on the kitesurf thread. Dan Eaton was riding with me at Borth on one. The upwind ability was crazy. Imagine a large Razor. Quote
BigE Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Now that does look the db's. Strange why they have used an existing kite name that was used by another company, that's what threw me. It does like very similar in shape to a certain single skin kite that's currently taking up most of the house! As for the original question Frenzy or Flysurfer? How much money do you have to spend and what are you looking to do? The Frenzy only goes up to a 13m where as the Flysurfer 8m-21m. Horse for courses. Quote
mick Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I'm telling you E, the Flysurfers look good but this is sheer beauty. It has to be the pinnacle of kite wing tec. I'm not sure what size Dan Eaton was on. I was on a 12 and I would think it was 10-12 as well. I wish I'd taken some pics for those nights the Mrs. is out at Bingo. Quote
BigE Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 There are some real big steps forward in design at the moment, Frenzy/Flysurfer.... nah they are now old school kites Quote
bartiebat1599968741 Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 S3 is totally cheating! That's not in a bad way, you'll kite so much more than you ever did before. Amazing piece of kit, you'll feel like a fraud it's so easy & you'll progress mentally fast because you've so much time. No-one will know your cheating but sometimes you'll feel a bit guilty ... till you see the video then you'll be stoked cos you'll look amazing (as long as you don't pump the bar cos that just looks crap!) They're just big gentle fluffy clouds & you'll wonder why you ever bothered learning to kite when you could have just learnt to Flysurfer instead (it's practically 2 different sports). Get one & never look back! Dull on the water though, get a proper kite if you want to get wet! Quote

I don't have a problem with making life easier and depowers certainly do over FB especially for freestyling. I know one particular very high rated freestyle buggyer who is petrified of using FBs especially Blades but is totally happy using Flysurfers. They really do make you look so much better BUT is that a crime? Well as far as I'm concerned, when it turns an open freestyle comp. into a one make series then yes but for your average guy, its great. Bring on anything that helps. Interesting point made by Westwood regarding the Chronos. You have to learn to fly them. That may take out the rush to change over from S3s. Sat here at the beach waiting for the wind to ease a little. The sand bar is starting to show and the easterlies are pushing the waves on the bar to nearly 2 mtres I'll bet. sent from Samsung Galaxy mobile. Quote
