16stairborne Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 Just booked up for a week in La Rosiere Esentially a family holiday but keen to get a bit of snowkiting in. Anyone been? Not sure wether to invest in a depower foil or just take me kitesurfing kites? Used to landboard many years ago and think i will probably hate going back to a foil remember them being very slow and very easy to get tied in knots. Any advice greatly appretiated cheers Quote
goofz Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 most people just use foils for backcountry these days, though they are better for learning on because of great relaunch, reverse launch and self launching which are easy even for a beginner The more depower the better imo, the last two years ozone foils have had a 5th line safety to kill the power quicker and a cross line in the bridle to stop the kite distorting - these two things lei wins hands down with or without a 5th. Foils make great light wind kites tho... just got a 15m myself which will be used like most of my kites - landboarding in imaginary snow instead of actual snowkiting Quote
16stairborne Posted July 10, 2014 Author Report Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks goofz so what size would you take? I have 8, 10, 14 Airush Varial X. Or if im gonna buy a foil say a Manta II what size u recon? Im guessing if the wind were to get right up the lifts would be shut anyway so i wouldnt be able to get to the kite area anyway? Quote
