lives2fly Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I'm riding a variety of Naish kites on a 2010 universal bar and since I started doing lots of rotations the front lines are getting really twisted (around the yellow safety line) and I'm not sure the safety would flag properly if I pulled it. I'm guessing more modern bars have a swivel or something to stop this happening or at least to allow you to untwist without taking the frontlines off. What year of Naish uni bar has this? anyone know? Quote
Andy-j Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 learn to trick in both directions, pass your kite under rather than over when changing tacks. learn to keep twists to a minimum as if the lines are twisted it'll increase friction and wear on the front lines. Quote
BillyGoat Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 practice doing the opposite trick on the same tack. e.g back roll = front roll kiteloop = downloop backmobe = front mobe or practice some tricks where you can't twist the lines eg - backloop kiteloop, F16, S-bend downloop etc... Then your lines will have minimal twists. On my RRD global bar (2011) there is no swivel, its a pain as stress builds up in the lines and suddenly they twist the centre lines around 10+ times. I just unhook and respin the chicken loop. If you can't be bothered with the above then fit a swivel to the font lines. Quote
lives2fly Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 Yeah i guess that forcing myself to learn the tricks both ways is the best way to minimise the twists and get better. My back roll is on the opposite tack to my front roll at the moment so its double the problem!! Not doing S-bends and F16's yet. my unhooked pop needs lots of work to get the height. Back roll/kite loop looks doable though I'll deffinately give that a go Would still appreciate any info on the newer Naish bars if anyone has any. Cheers Quote
Pippi Langsamer Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 2012 bars onwards have "that", centre line swivel which is pretty lame, but does give you a chance to untwist the lines if you can reach up to it. For me, it's just about reachable, but if I had slightly shorter arms.... Below t'bar swivel would be far better Quote
