steved1599968766 Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 There is a small field on Portsdown hill that's ok in a northerly, just to the left of the Churchillian pub. It's very small though and gets a lot of dog walker traffic. If you do try it then make sure you stay up wind as you don't want to end up in the car park if you wipe out. The bottom (north) half of the field is unusable as the grass is too long, but the top half is ok. Best place to setup is where the two halfs of the field meet, & then stay as close to this when flying as possible. The other thing is that you'll be flying on a slope, which can be good fun but takes some getting used to. You'll find your kite flys further overhead than usual and you'll be cutting very hard into the wind; as upwind is downhill! There's a meets thread for this in the Hampshire section on the SEKA forums (Welcome to SEKA an open group of kiting enthusiasts). Post up if you're thinking of going & I'll meet you for a fly if I'm free. Quote
