Just read through all the posts and mick is really on the ball about the comparative kite performances. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Blades. I can vouch fro what he writes base don my experiences of owning and flying Blades for over decade. I have also flown and own other kite brands just so you don't think I'm taking sides here.

The Bullet, which was a good kite when introduced had its place for what I used to call the intermediate flyer. Following on from the Bullet in the Flexifoil stable came the Rage, which is also a better kite in my opinion. Topping that came the Blurr, which is a great Buggy engine particularly in gusty conditions in comparison to the Blade. I think I mentioned it before but when I'm flying my 4.9 Blade & Giorgio is on his 5.0m Blurr, our speeds are almost the same. Sometimes he has the edge & sometime I do, it all depends on the line we take, what bumps we hit and the nature of the gusts & of course our individula flying skills, which I would say are pretty similar. The upside to the Blade & I'm not a freestyler is its amazing acceleration that the inexperienced Blade flyer would relate to as a vicious tug. The Blade gives me a great advantage when running the dunes compared to other buggiers' kites. If I thought that there was better kite for running the dunes, I'd buy it immediately. Sadly, I understand that Flexi are hardly likely to introduce a Mark 6 Blade but rumour has it that there will be a successor to the Mk V Blade & to be announced next year but it will be called something else. Let's us dedicated Blade flyers keep our fingers crossed that a successor which is superior to the Blade does hit the market.

It's interesting that mick's top speed is 46 mph, which in my book relates to 74kph. This is virtually the same as my top speed of 74.6 kph

that I did on 6 May 2010 with my 4.0m Blade. That day I buggied exactly 100kms. simply because when I got back to the ghaf tree my GPS showed about 98 + kms, so I just pottered in the dunes next to the tree to make it a nice round 100km.

I find that travelling over 65kph on our rough desert floor quite exhilarating to say the least as it is hard to keep two wheels on the floor let alone all three. Hit a deep rut at say 70kph & I would be OBE'ing big time even with my 1.47m long rear axle fitted with wide offset BF wheels. In my book, 45 mph or 72.4 kph (what is 45 ish? - does it mean speed not recorded) is very fast in a buggy when bouncing across our desert floor. Note that I still hold the UAE fastest buggy speed although Giorgio knocked me off my pedestal once for a few weeks.

Hey pep, I aint knockin the Bullets. Many many ppl screamed around with them. And if they're right price then great. At the time they were massively popular and even now, they make a good buggy kite but they were being compared to the Blade. Thats when I stuck my snout in.

What did they cost. Come on. Truthfully?

Peplow, bullets are quite good well made kites, and the sizes you have will be good buggy engines BUT ONLY IN THE RIGHT WIND, ITS ALL ABOUT THE WIND SPEED

If you are just starting into buggying it doesn't much matter about the intricacies of the kite, until you have ridden and experimented, I would recommend u go out with your local flyers and forget about speed until you get your technique

And Micksta dont dare say a word about Mummys, Blind leading Blind etc, just politely correct me if ~Im wrong

i thought about that rs buggy, its a really good deal! but went for a libre v max 2 in end as it fits in my van plus it had swan neck and extenders and was only £50 more. After reading all your comments i think ill be ok with the bullets but when i get some bigger kites ill go for blurrs i think...
