apcomark Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 hi I have a parastorm typhoon mk1 buggy. I need to change the bearings on the left hand wheel does anyone know if its left hand thread. I have changed the bearings before but can't remember which way I did it last time! (old age perhaps) have been trying to undo them with a bar over the Allen key but am rotating buggy as well! would help If I knew which way to confidently give it some welly ....? Quote
Batz Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 It's the opposite way to the way you did it up! Quote
slide Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 wd40 , and a tube on spanner or allen key - if you use a left handed allen key - get a left handed tube - but use the right hand Quote
apcomark Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 Thanks Jrd and Pete ..... needed to be sure before I get the scaffold bar out...! as for the rest of you *rolls eyes* .... Quote
dangerous bob Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 Righty tighty, lefty looseie !!!! Unless it a commercial vehicle !!!! Quote
Cullen Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 My Flexifoil buggy uses standard right hand threaded bolts for both sides (anticlockwise to undo) Sounds like you will need to put some grease on the bolts for next time, as it sounds like they may have rusted in. Keep spraying the bolts where they enter the chassis with a penetrating oil (may take a few days to work it's way in though!) Hope this helps. Cullen. Quote
BillyTheShed Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 As above, spray with wd40 and leave to soak in. Copperslip is a good antiseaze to apply when you put it back together. Quote
apcomark Posted May 30, 2012 Author Report Posted May 30, 2012 WD40 did the work after 2 days of soaking managed to crack the bolts off today .... bought a M12 Tap and Die and cleaned all the threads replaced bearings and put back together with copper grease .... lesson learnt - ALWAYS use grease when you change the bearings .... phew what a mission was thinking i would never undo them bolts they were rusted solid ... buggy's ready for the long weekend though bring it on!
