So we all do this dangerous sport, and I have experienced that with a broken arm a couple years back. Other than that just the usual few slams when jumps go wrong and the like. Today after I had finished a really good session I dropped my board on my big toe walking back to the car! Hurts like hell although I suspect I may survive..

Cue a thread for random injuries sustained during days out kitesurfing.....

Old fella severly crunched by harness strap.

Bet you weren't kite surfing at the time tho.

Not surfing but first time I went out at one spot with the camera and cut it fine getting back in so hot footed it back over a muscle bed with bare feet.

One of the lads set you should get some boots. "Nah. I'll be fine" was my reply only to notice I was standing in a puddle of me own blood.

I went out and got boots shortly after.

Not kitesurfing, but I went surfing for the first time in Newquay last September. Coming into the beach from knee-surfing a wave in, and decided to 'dismount' the board. Except, rather than rolling off the board, I somehow rolled around it, and ended up sitting straddling an upside down surfboard. Board gets whipped out from underneath me, the centre fin catching my right in the nads. I won't be too graphic about the injury sustained, but it involved Newquay Minor Injuries and some medical glue.

Buggy incident. Heard all about it and seen the vid. Chap hits a pothole and flips out of the buggy. Ends up getting dragged backwards down the beach with his lines between his legs :D

Mark. I'm laughing and wincing at most of em.

I must be due some pain by now. Every obe I've had I've always managed to end up on my feet or knees. There's an art to crashing

Thought I'd broken bones in both feet, went to the docs and his face became very puzzled. "I know what is wrong but how the hell have you done it? You have Repetive Strain Injuries on the tendon of each big toe!"

Change of footpads and straps cured that one.

i almost killed myself once landboarding. but thats a story for a different thread.

my gayest injury is a cracked skin on my heel. kiting in a muddy estuary the mud must have dried my feet and my heel skin cracked. then every time i walked the bloody thing would crack again.... grrrrrr. i couldn't walk properly for a week.

very gay indeed.

I was landboarding with my 7.2 blade in my local playing field which is not great in any wind, very gusty. I was not having much joy with the landboard so I decided to kick the board out the way and do some jumps with the kite alone. So I ran backwards and loaded up and pop. I remember seeing the goal posts become as small as a table football goal posts and shit myself. I think I pulled on one of the handle and sent the kite into a dive towards to ground and also follwed it. Bang I hit the ground with my hip and it was that hard that the botton on the jeans I was wear popped off. So I remember opening my eyes as tho I had just woke from a deep sleep, where everything is all blury and was in abit of pain. The bit was having to pack the kite away in pain with my jean hanging around my legs. Had a lovely bruise on my hip.

Broke my leg after getting lofted towards the beach, whilst standing in 2" water waiting for someone to land my kite

Black eye from the bar after crashing into an incoming wave

fractured my ring finger as I hooked back in getting it caught between the harness hook & chicken loop

Funniest....was just after getting my IKO3, being overpowered & skidding towards a boulder, avoiding smashing the board I lifted up my legs & the next thing to hit the offending rock was my backside.....managed to stand up & then screamed in agony, a another kiter thought I had been shot or something.

Ended up with a completely Black & blue bruised buttock on one side, whilst the other one had a 8" gnash down it....next day I went on a jeep safari in the desert...bouncing over the rocks & sand dunes sitting like sardines on a thin cushioned seat of a 4x4 jeep.

Landboarding a few years back forgot to redirect the kite to land a jump, the subsequent heavy landing caused me to smack myself in the face with the control bar and bite my tongue open.

Came in from a great 2 hour session and bent over to pick my board up off the beach. As I go to grab it a gust pulls me forward and my hand misses the board jamming my middle finger down into the sand and then I over-balance bending the whole thing back - thought it was going to snap - imagine doing an extreme, klingon, 'live long and prosper' type hand gesture. The pain was quite bad that evening and I ended up going to A & E. After a nice 4 hour wait, I had it looked at and was told I had a case of 'bent-back finger'.

Yeah. Thanks for that.

Edit: Just remembered about the trick I invented. It was a 15ft jump with an open eye to water landing. My eyeball looked like one of those joke ones after that one. All bloodshot and veiny and slightly smeary. Seriously, don't try that one.

Someone went to college for 5 years so they could accurately diagnose bent back finger - without the proper training they might have thought you had cancer, brain tumour, you name it...

My toe's starting to look quite colourful. Just a guess but I think it might be 'board dropped on toe syndrome'. Better get to the hospital to double check though.
