mick Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 I prefer to stay out of cold water and i would also advice you to stay out of cold water as it can cause high fever and running nose. So what do you call cold then? Quote
Plumbing007 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 hi, nice post and thanks for sharing with us. Quote
Jack1988 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Im going to go for an oneill Epic 2 5/3, its good quality and affordable at around 100 quidish. I already wear an Epic 3/2 and its kept me pretty warm so far Quote
mick Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Jack, I just bought one and it was crap. In fact, the zip leaked so badly they upgraded it to a GOOROO. for free. It was a nice stretchy suit but rubbish. The GOOROO seems ok cos its got one of those hook it over your head back things. Easy to do when you get it sussed. Quote
Jack1988 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Must have been faulty then boss. ile try the oneill anyway, my local shop should be ok with me returning it if its poop. I will probably get one of the thermal rashes with a hood on it when it gets too cold for my noggin. Quote
mick Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 I have a strange feeling it was your local shop boss. Yes it was faulty fo sho. Thats why O Niel told em to swap it. Unfortunately, as soon as it gets wet, they won't swap but let O' Niel make the decisions. It took 5 weeks to get my suit Quote
Jack1988 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Oooooh nasty, i bet you had some awkward moments in that shop!.. Quote
mick Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 No not at all. I'm a very tolerant sort of guy. I don't raise my voice or get annoyed. I'm sorta mega layed back most of the time. Quote
Jack1988 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 yeah but it must have been awkward, but then again im a paranoid kinda guy, i wouldn even take my burger back to the kebab shop if they got the wrong order for fear of them spitting in my right order etc lol Quote
Guest Nathaniel Marc Fuller Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Pro Limit 2011 C3 - 5/3 Wetsuit awesome suit, way better than that oneil. Quote
mick Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Pro Limit 2011 C3 - 5/3 Wetsuit awesome suit, way better than that oneil. Personally, I'd never buy another O'Niel. Ive had a Sola Evolution for the best part of 15 yrs but it has about the same stretchyness as wood. The O'Niel is really nice to get on and off. I will say that. It has to be the stretchiest thing I've seen since my Wife gave birth to my 2nd child. Quote
ezstevie Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 I have a 2008 O'Neill PsychoII 5/3 and I use it all year round in the UK - fabulous suit, well worth the price tag - build quality is fantastic and stretch is good. I also just bought an O'Neill Mutant 5/4 with integrated hood system - the retails at £199 amd it is super warm. The Mutant is probably the best value winter suit on the market right now. Quote
roirizla Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 It has to be the stretchiest thing I've seen since my Wife gave birth to my 2nd child. +1 and a nice little chuckle accompanied by a lie to the question from my wife as to why Im laughing. Quote

Also just bought the 2011 Mutant and I was very toasty in the water today. A bit tricky to get in and out of but once you get the knack of it, it's not too bad (I'm also hoping it will stretch a little). The hood is excellent and doesn't let any water in at all, although I didn't have any really hard crashes. The zip for the hood and neck protector was a little flimsy feeling but I don't think it will cause any problems. Quote
tommy_colombo Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Got a Mutant 2011 too, warmest wetsuit I ever had! Quote
Wowzer Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 I ended up with this in the end, My suit and hood Well I'm pleased as punch! Quote
southcoastkite Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 I am new to kite surfing and have been confused by all the different types of wetsuits that are on the market and which one to buy but did come across this website www.wetsuitcentre.co.uk/advice as they have done videos explaining the different features of each product. Helped me out Quote
Serial45 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I'm considering spending money on an o'neil psychofreak, psycho, or Pyrotech. I'm gonna go to an o'neil store next week and try a few on. Wondering if the psychofreak is worth the extra £50 or not? Anyone have any of these suits? Quote
The Geoff Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I use a 5/3 Psycho 1, lovely bit of kit. I've had it out in seriously cold temperatures (subzero air temp, North Sea) and it's at least adequate. With a rash vest, boots and gloves I can easily be out on the water for an hour before I start to get cold, and I reckon it would keep me alive while sat on the kite for a few hours. Never tried the others, so can't really compare them. Fit is a lot of it though, I tried on the Psychofreak and it just didn't feel as good as the Psycho 1. Quote
andrew pattullo Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 and if its really cold i put on a long sleeve rash vest and thermal leggings under wetsuit , boot socks, latex boots, and decent gloves 5m when we had those horribly cold easterlys with a wind chill factor -25 I found that surgical gloves under gloves stopped frostbite , Quote
The Geoff Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Come on now Andrew, it's not frostbite. If you were actually getting frostbite you'd have far bigger problems than standing on a board. You mean, at worst, frost nip. Maybe a chilblain or two. But mostly you just mean "really cold". Quote
Andy C Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Technically he's correct - he didn't get frostbite, mainly because it would be impossible rather than because of extra surgical gloves. And whilst we're at it, I'm not sure wind chill factor is a massive issue inside a wetsuit, except after the session if you hang around doing nowt in a damp wetsuit. Quote
StarKitesUK Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Guys, let have less talk of winter wet suits and enjoy the Summer. it was 29 here yesterday and look like today is heating up nicely. Wind forecast for the weekend too.... Quote
