Scribbler88 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I've just bought a 10m Venom II (from a nice kitecrowd.com user) for landboarding purposes, and need to get a harness to match. Both me and my wife are going to be flying it (we are both getting into kiting), and it would be great if we could get a harness that we could both use. Is this likely to happen? We aren't that much different in size, but with obvious differences in body shape... We'll be at the Southamptom kite festival next weekend - would anyone know which dealers will be there, and who would be good to talk to about a harness? Many thanks for your help Scribbler Quote
Dravic Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I can't help with your questions but have you got details for the festival please? Quote
Scribbler88 Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 From the press release: "15th Southampton Kite Festival 2010 19th & 20th June Lordshill Sports Ground ,5 Acre Field, Lordshill, Southampton. Hampshire 10am - 5.30pm both days, with night flying (weather permitting) on the Saturday" ------------------ Other than that, I don't know a whole lot to be honest - it's organised by the Solent Kite Flyers, so there might be a member or two on this forum, potentially. Let me know if you'll be coming down on the Saturday - always nice to meet new kiters. Quote
martin Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I've been to Soton kite fest a few times, even done a board/buggy display in the arena. (Pics & vid on my website below.) It's basically a family orientated static display although you might get a couple of local boarders turn up. Lords hill rec is a big place but will soon fill if the weather's good. They will have a few stalls there & will be a good opportunity to try on different harnesses to see what you both like. Portsmouth festival on Southsea common usually has more stalls & is a much nicer location. Best of luck Quote
Scribbler88 Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Thanks Martin. I've got some mates in Soton, so it's a good excuse to head down there. Me and my wife will be there on Saturday with a landboard and a couple of kites. Hopefully it's not too busy - would be a shame to have to keep the board strapped to my back the whole day due to lack of space to use it... AJ Quote
martin Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 If i wasn't working all bloody weekend i would have gone to the festival. I don't have any experience with depower arcs to pass on though.....................yet. If you stay until late afternoon the place will clear & you'll have room. LH can be very gusty though. Quote
peter32 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 If your the same ish size i cant see why you cant both share a seat harness you will just have a bit more to squeeze the leg straps round : P waist harness will prob need his and hers because of the shape Quote
g0nz01599968659 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 If you're down this way, drop into Solent Sailboards. We have heaps of harnesses, so Im sure you'll find something that'll cover it for you. Dan Quote
Scribbler88 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Turns out the kite festival was a rubbish place to get a harness. There were only two serious dealers there, and neither of them had bought any harnesses with them. The festival seems to have been re-purposed as a 'family fun day', so they were doing a brisk trade in £20 kiddy kites and banners, but nothing much more than that. Can't argue with shops that know their market, but still very disappointing. I thought it would be easy to get to Calshot (to Solent Sailboards), but I didn't have a car, and didn't realise quite how far it was. Cab company quoted £30 each way. There were some nice guys out on landboards in the limited space available. I hope I wasn't too much of a helpless newbie, getting in everyones way - someone was out with a blue (14m??) Waroo, putting everyone else to shame. Anyone know where I can buy a Harness in London instead? I know ocean leisure have some, but don't know of anywhere else. Cheers Scribbler Quote
