)Hi everybody. Happy new year.

Just thought id say hi.

Im another person looking at doing what looks like a fun sport, been watching it for a couple of years both from shore and out on the water (kayak), think hmmm, maybe.

Im only a few weeks away from picking up my trainer ( wife said i had to save for it rather than spend the (her) household money :dontknow: ) I have decided on a HQ hydra 3.5. My two girls want to learn as well as does my wife, sorta.

I live in Altona Meadows and have been fishing ( boat and kayak) in the waters of Point Cook and Altona bay for i reckon about 15-20 years. So time for a change.

It's really great to see stuff from the local area especially the Apex park side as thats where i drag the yak about 50 mtrs across the mud usually to paddle to point cook.

I will be getting lessons when the time is right (money and time allows). I guess really i see my girls being able to learn and giving them something great to do on the water. Something i have been doing for longer than i remember, they arent into fishing etc so i think this is what could get their interest, especially my 9 year old (Plus i want to do it). Can you believe she went swimming last night at altona ( little freak) the water was freezing.

So to cut to the chase, hi

Peter

Welcome peter and family.

Kiting can be very addictive you will find, good thing you have children. Then you can tell the wife you bought it for the children to use :)

Any way have fun and post any time you have a question or an adventure.

Thanks sinbad, and yeah , ive used the "kids" angle. Good thing is that my wife said she would like to learn. But that may have been just to shut me the hell up.

Questions, i got millions.

But they can wait a bit. Im just enjoying soaking up the info right now. I will have the trainer in a month, lol then the questions start.

But in the mean time if i can contribute then i will if i know something about the topic

Welcome Peter.

Well you live in the perfect spot, Altona beach is close by. Altona is my local spot, I'm only 15 minutes drive away, how good is that. I've probably seen you a couple of times when I kite surf. If you're out at Apex with your trainer, introduce your self to George (Spartan) or my self and we will be glad to give you some pointers if you like. I kite surf and landboard (so does my 11 year old son Zachary), George is similar though he also kites with his Doomies (inline skates).

You can spot me by the kite I use (FlySurfer Speed III 12m^2 or Peter Lynn Venom II 13m^2, both foils). George also exclusively flies foils.

Regards,

Norman.

Thanks guys.

I've seen the flysurfer down Apex end although haven't really watched and the familly like to keep moving, not alot of room down there. But ill definitely pop in sometime soon.

I flew the trainer (cheap foil ) at ransom park i think it is , sometimes at apex depending on the crowd.

The stunt kite ive flown at Apex cos i can buzz the dogs ( but not with the foil, it wouldn't look good).

Ive looked at the Board building threads with interest especially the hydrofoil one . I was wondering if you had thought of a smaller version of this fin.

After all , it's all about lift and reducing drag i guess. You know i reckon a mold could be made from a kiteboard fin with the foil on the tip and molded in resin perhaps.

I know it's an old thread but hey.

cheers

Peter
