yorkierob Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 something really needs doing about this! (er obviously der!!!) i have bought and sold many things on here and will come here first to buy and sell but tossers like this put doubt and disrespect into everyones mind and stop this been a good place to be! i for onr make sure i get a phone number at least and try and have a chat to the guy first- but to be fair this guy is an exception - an arsehole, wanker, sister-tamperer, sheep-worryer, chicken- fucking spoon-head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! redmark Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Silly thing to do, but aside from setting up a bogus direct debit to Diabetes UK, which would be refunded when it was realised not to be bona fide, sort code & a/c details are not particularly sensitive info, as previously mentioned they are printed on cheques. They don't allow access to someone's account or let you steal money off someone. Still a bit silly though. But that aside, is this guy honest after all or has he in fact stolen money off someone? That is a much worse thing to do than bung up sone information on a forum, which let's face it, no-one is going to abuse really are they? just my 2 pence worth if i was to sell anything on here i would first off all advertise it then when a deal is done i would make a buy it now sale on ebay then all is safe and secure if the buyer dosnt have a ebay account surely he/she will know somebody who as like i said my 2 pence worth Quote
auto-photos Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 but then you have ebay fees. and your still not garaunteed to get your stuff. ebays a load of shite too Quote
Spock Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 i don't know anyone on this site, but from reading there are a few ppl i would trust (or trust my judgement) enough to send me stuff that i had paid for, but i'd still pay with a cheque, anyone else would have to be cash on collection. even the most respected ppl can get your address and postcode wrong, as i learned when ordering some goods from a guy on here, if my goods had been signed for by the ppl where it was delivered to instead them rejecting the delivery and it turning up back at the sellers house, then he would have though i'd recieved the items and was trying to rip him off, and i would have been convinced he had just took my money and not sent the stuff out, and community would have been on the side of the seller due to who it was. hows it going with the cops? Antigrav Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 For what it's worth, I've bought and sold lots on here without a problem in the last however many years. 99% of kiters are top people, I've only ever met one guy who I thought was a wanker at the field or beach in the 7 years since I started kiting, and everyone I've dealt with through forums have been great, and have made quite a few good mates through it too Don't really have much of a point, just saying.....cause all you guys are calling for 'buyer protection' or whatever. I'll still happily buy from anyone or sell to anyone on this forum, maybe I'm too trusting, BUT frankly there are more important things in life to worry about. It's money, it sucks if you lose it but ultimately you will find a way to get back what you've lost. I think losing a board about 2 and a half years ago taught me how little equipment actually matters in the long run, I saved and bought a new board and never looked back on what was a shit day at the beach! Hope you get it sorted though Luke Quote
lunaloco Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 sounds like a good idea if it were to be easily done by the mods - i know on clsc they have a karma by each person and people can put them up or down on eachother - only one person per day and only one point per day - It surely can be done easily .... BUT ..... Looking at threads like these (which don't come up very often) I'm afraid, it would lead to user bashing, fights, etc. without resulting in a decent solution. Apart from that, Kitecrowd cannot have anyone being accused of illegal behavior without that person being legally accused. Kitecrowd is responsible for everything users post on the forum. So you can imagine the legal effect it can have on the site if someone makes an accusation of someone being a thief/fraud/... Quote

Badger Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I thought The Geoff tried to explain all this before.... but the thread keeps on coming back up ...I guess that there is a big difference between saying that there is a "Fraudster in Faversham", and saying that there is a "Fraudster in Faversham and his name is ...". redmark Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 but then you have ebay fees. and your still not garaunteed to get your stuff. ebays a load of shite too yeah but you have feedback to check and you also have advance search for user information brings up a phone number phone it see if you get who you are supposed to and ask them if they are buying what you are selling then you know your dealing with who it is supposed to be i think that would be a bit safer Quote
SIMON_N Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Dis this ever get settled, what was the outcome? Quote
