moomin Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 So: 5'4. Too heavy Generally kiting in mushy Camber chop, occasional forays into flat water goodness. Looking for something cruisy, but with a bit of play to it just in case I get good (ha!) Choices: Brunotti Pro Princess - 130- x 40. Few 09 boards of eBay for under £400. Mark Shinn - Luigi's Brother. looks nice - liking the look of the shape & the flex in the tips. Would have to buy new girly footpads. Looks a good all round board. Balance - either 130 or 133. Again, looks like a good all round board and something that I'm not going to grow out of. Expensive though and no footpads so making it even more expensive! There's also the Shinn Monokini, but a) it has a stupid name and b) it's pink, so I'm not too keen. Suggestions welcome! Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) you could try a jimmy? i love my model 3 in both chop and flatwater. might need smaller footpads though. JL-UK 2009 END OF YEAR SALE edit: not a completely random suggestion; i think the turbulence angels team use them alternatively cant you wander itno a nearby shop and try out everything they stock? moomin Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Naish momentum 130x 40 Why? Other than the fact you're a Naish dealer? Quote
KiteItRight Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Brunoti Pro Princess - More Flex, Lighter and generlly the most aigle board out of all mentioned, which kind of makes it great for a women. Spot a bit of chop ahead, and its really easy to adjust your direction, weight quckly, because its so agile and requires little effort to control it, where is with most other boards are heavier and slower to move, however getting hold of a pro princess will prove difficult. Luigi, is really centered towards a bloke, bit it would work. Wood core, a little heavier and sitffer then that pro princess, but just as high quality. Most of the luigis flex is int he tips where i find the brunotti boards have more flex throughout the deck. i think the luigi will be deal witht he chop better than the pro priincess but not quite as comfotable to ride because its slightly stuffer. Luigi seems to have alot of shinns tech. cant go wrong with either really however with you being a LADYY! i think youd benefit from the narrower stance ont he pro princes Tom 01663 733666 Quote
lucanairtime Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 133 Balance everytime, we have one on demo come and have a go or i can sent it out to you. Every one that has a go wants one. We still have a 09 133 team here that we could do you a deal on Quote
g0nz01599968659 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Why? Other than the fact you're a Naish dealer? Because they RULE Also worth a look in if you dont want something as serious as the momentum would be the North Soleil or the Nobile T5 girls board... these are listed in order of bomb proof hardcore freestyleeness. Quote
lucanairtime Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 these are listed in order of bomb proof hardcore freestyleeness. "Hardcore Freestlyeeness" like it, but there's only one board for the freestlye girls at the moment 133 Balance Quote
soggy Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Sounds like you've got some testing to do :-) Quote
foggyblackpool Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I have a brand new 09 naish sol 131 for sale if it interests you atall. Naish Sol Quote
Bigbud Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 F one boards always get great reviews, the Trax is supposed to be mint I love my fone Liquid The new Flexi boards are supposed to be good and the pads / straps are amazing !! The blankforce boards get good reviews and are at the lower end of the price bracket for what they are, I wasn't keen but would like to try one again in the summer when I'll hve more time on the beach Quote
moomin Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Naish doesn't really appeal to me TBh.. Flexi - who are they? Do they make kite stuff? Nobile is OK but tiny - yes, I'm 5'4 but I stand little chance of landing anything as it is - I need a bit of board on my feet rather than a tea tray. Tell me more about the 133 Balance - what are they like flex wise? I like the 09 more than the 10 design wise! I think we're down to 2... Quote
jamesnaishuk Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Hi Moomin well technically i am not a Naish dealer, i am the UK agent, but never mind. fair enough that Naish doesnt appeal but i will justify why i felt it might be right for you. it has a softer flex for lighter riders, a decent surface are to help with loading up and landing and critically more rocker than any of the other boards mentioned to help the board through chop and crappy conditions. The idea of flex in the tips is fine if you have the weight and leg strength to force it into the board when you need it, i dont know how you ride so i appologise if i am presuming too much. the Balance is a pretty damn full on freestlye board with the ascociated flatter rocker and stiffer flex. skiffman Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 just got a 132x41 momentum and love it, had it out in chop and some flatish stuff and its great. Goes through the shop well but with loads more pop than my Sol just need to get myself some smaller fins if anyone knows where to get some. Quote
dbinit Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Hi Moomin If you fancy throwing a few new boards into the choices i have 997 Park 130cm. Its very very light , comfy air cushion pads and has good flex for choppy water , but still has plenty of pop for nailing those kite low tricks . £369 I also have one of the 09 parks left reduced to £289. Its the same idea , with a little more weight , and different base finish anf graphics. Or the bang Orbits 130cm. Its got a littel more flex and less pop, but would give a very easy ride in chop. Its a very good budget board , but wouldnt have the quality finish of the 997s which are more high end. you can check them out here Kitesurf Warehouse Shop - Kiteboards Quote
moomin Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Trouble is, I'm not really a lighter rider! The pic is now... 5 years old, and I've had a baby since then :bag: I had a 132 Crazyfly girly board which I sold - it was OK, but it was a bit too soft. Flex is good, you need a bit of flex in the rough but I'd also like something that feels a bit more precise. Have now found a Pro Princess for about £300 - it might be too much of a bargain to resist.. but still thinking about the Balance! Quote
OceanRodeo Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 let me throw a curved ball at you. Ocean rodeo Mako They are renown for eating chop and carving the mush. Defiantly freerlde than free style 130 0r 140 may suit Quote

lucie8uk Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 I had a pro princess. Really liked it. Loved it. Only sold it because an ex bought it for me and when we split up I felt uncomfortable riding something he had bought. Silly really, but there you go. Get the princess! EDIT Ooh look I am riding it in my avatar, even. This was the pink one. 2009 board I think? You looking at the later red/blue graphics? Lovely board. *sigh* Quote
benbaron Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 To be fair if the princess rides anything like the onyx then it would be my choice as well.... Quote
stueyboy Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Why don't you try the Raptor Pro since you like Crazyfly boards? It might suit and you will be familiar with the way it rides. It will be stiffer than the ladies board though Quote
moomin Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Nah - Husband had the raptor and it was far too stiff for him, so won't be any good for me. Quote
freefall Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Not tryed womens boards but you wont go wrong with a brunotti onyx. very forgiving board, lots of flex and good amounts of rocker. Good board for building up tons of confidence with. Quote
Lem Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Nah - Husband had the raptor and it was far too stiff for him, so won't be any good for me. Actually that was the Rocky Pro.. Fine on the flat, a pain in the arse everywhere else. My vote would be the Brunotti also. Quote
RichieRipz Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 If you can live with the graphics, how about a JN Circus 133? It's very easy to pop, and Sarah/Iris get on well with it. Iris is a very similar size to you. Can ship you a demo if you like. Keep it in the family! Quote
